Les peintres “anti-académie”:Les peintres de BARBIZON.
• The French Academy had insisted painters be trained in the “Neo Classical” tradition.
• Landscapes were not considered a noble subject matter. They were seen only as a backdrop to historical paintings.
• Barbizon painters LOVED landscapes!
