RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

O Research objectives are the specific actions proposed to answer the research questions .

O Objectives indicate what we are trying to get from the study or the expected results or outcomes of the study.

O They are closely related to the statement of the problem.

CHARACTERISTICSO Research objectives should be clear ,

achievable and verifiable - as they directly assist in answering the research questions / problem .

O Objectives may be specified in the form of actions (verbs) to answer the posed questions-generally objectives begin with to :

discover …, determine …, establish …access……identify……, compare …., analyze , evaluate…..,…etc.

GENERAL OBJECTIVESOThey are broad goals to be achieved and state what the researcher expects to achieve by the study in general terms

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVESOThey are short term and narrow in focusOThey address various aspects of the research problemOThey should specify what the researcher will do in the study, where and for what purposeOThey are divided in three phases: Exploratory, descriptive and explanatory

researcher a general vision regarding the focus of the study

These verbs allow researchers to build objectives that are intended to EXPLORE on the principles or main aspects of the object of study

detail fundamental characteristics, relationships, relevance, evidence, parts, causes and consequences of the phenomena
