Philip GlenisterThe RT Interview

Which TV series would you taketo a desert island?I could say Magnum,Pl[aughs]...Maybe I would because it's 163hours oftelevision and I was so

involved with it. I was burnt outat the time and don't rememberhalfthe episodes. I need to catchup with myown show.

What's your guilty pleasure?I like shows that are proudly stupid.I don't thinkMonty Pythonwasa stupid show; it was averysmart show, but they did stupidthings and I do love it for that.Unfortunately most TV shows arestupid but they are pretendingthey're smar1.

What are your biggest turn-offs?I hate reality shows - and I don twant to shock anyone here, butthey're not real! They put actorsout ofwork, in exchange forcheaper, less qualified actors. So

I have a particular loathing ofreality; I dont mind the realitycontests, though.

What's your favourite Saturday-night show, Sfr.ictlg or X Faator?I'd have to go for Strictly, which wecall Dancing raith the Stars intheStates. They asked me to be on itfor a couple ofyears and I keptsaying no. I can dance but I'm notwilling to show people. It's a niceshowthough and it's fun. For actorssometimes it can rejuvenate theircareers, which is probably whyI didn't do it because I didn't feelmy career needed rejuvenating!

How many televisions do youhave in your house (or houses)?Well it's just the one house, although I do sometimes feellike I live in a hotel in NewYorkifyou can count that. I have threeTVs. You were expecting 18, weren'tyou? As if I lived in some Gaddafi-like palace...

Who orwhatdoyouwakeupto inthe mornings?Coffee is mandatory newspaperslike the 2,4 Times and The WallStreet Journal. Ofcourse I tune
