RUST IN PEACE EXHIBITION OF PAINTINGS BY STUEICHEL. The North Main Gallery is proud to exhibit “Elegiesin Oil - Post-mortem Vehicular Character Studies from theBacklots and Fields of Washington and Saratoga Counties.”The exhibition—featuring plein air paintings of classic cars, trucks, and tractors parked in their final resting places —willbe on view from to April 23.Eichel was born in Detroit and later attended Pratt Institute, fol-lowing his service in the U.S. Army, which was then deployed tofight in the Korean War. He went on to become an advertising artdirector in New York City at the height of the Madmen era. Aftera decade, he quit the city to work as a creative director in Knox-ville, Tennessee, where he lived with his wife, Greta—also anartist as well as the author of two lively memoirs—and family forthe next 20 years. At age 59, Eichel went back to school to study painting, enroll-ing in the fine arts program at the University of Tennessee. In2000, the Eichels moved to Saratoga Springs, where Stu hasachieved renown for painting local landmarks and businessesthroughout the region.A former boxer and an avid marathon runner, Eichel is now anoctogenarian who infuses his paintings with joy. Congenial asever–he encourages passersby to stop and say hello while he ispainting on a street corner—Eichel is accustomed to hearing thatthose who are not generally drawn to fine art love his work.Indeed, accessibility is an important motivation for his work. “Tome, the job of an artist is finding something people are interestedin,” he said, in a magazine feature published in the January issueof Simply Saratoga. His renderings of ordinary objects—fire hy-drants, decaying barns, urban streetscapes, rusty classic cars, etc.—transcend the quotidian to achieve splendor in form andfunction. In the artist’s statement on his website, StuEichelArt.com, he says,“I’ve always thought that artists are the luckiest people.” View-ers of the exhibition might agree that we are pretty lucky to haveStu Eichel around as well. Please join North Main Gallery incelebrating his life and art.

Obama’s recent visit to a mosque that is under suspicion ofassisting terrorism has prompted more questining of his faith. Is he a duck ?????? Keep this old adage in mind:“If you walklike a duck and quack like a duck there is a very high prob-ability that you are a duck!” I'm sure you have heard the out-rage expressed by the press and Democrats over DonaldTrump's failure to espouse Obama's Christianity and correcta questioner at one of his events who stated that Obama is aMuslim. Now we have Hillary chastising Trump for same, trying to score political points. I thought you might find thefollowing instructive: Mike Gallagher, the 8th most recog-nized talk radio personality in the country, is heard by over2.25 million listeners weekly. He compiled and wrote thefollowing essay:"Obama: It was You."President Obama, this is why you didn'tgo to France to show solidarity against the Muslim terrorists:· It was you who spoke these words at an Islamic dinner -"Iam one of you." · It was you who on ABC News referenced -"My Muslim faith ." · It was you who gave $100 million inU.S. taxpayer funds to re-build foreign mosques. · It was youwho wrote that in the event of a conflict-"I will stand with theMuslims ." · It was you who assured the Egyptian ForeignMinister that -"I am a Muslim ." · It was you who bowed insubmission before the Saudi King. · It was you who sat for20 years in a Liberation Theology Church condemning Chris-tianity and professing Marxism. · It was you who exemptedMuslims from penalties under Obamacare that the rest of ushave to pay.· It was you who purposefully omitted - "endowed by ourCreator " - from your recitation of The Declaration Of Inde-pendence. · It was you who mocked the Bible and JesusChrist's Sermon On The Mount while repeatedly referring tothe 'HOLY' Qur'an. · It was you who traveled the Islamic worlddenigrating the United States Of America. · It was you whoinstantly threw the support of your administration behind thebuilding of the Ground Zero Victory mosque overlooking thehallowed crater of the World Trade Center. · It was you whorefused to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, but hastenedto host an Islamic prayer breakfast at the White House. · Itwas you who ordered Georgetown University and Notre Dameto shroud all vestiges of Jesus Christ BEFORE you wouldagree to go there to speak, but in contrast, you have NEVERrequested the mosques you have visited to adjust their decor.· It was you who appointed anti-Christian fanatics to yourCzar Corps.· It was you who appointed rabid Islamists to Homeland Se-curity. · It was you who said that NASA's "foremost mission"was an outreach to Muslim communities. · It was you who asan Illinois Senator was the ONLY individual who would speakin favor of infanticide. · It was you who were the first Presi-dent not to give a Christmas Greeting from the White Houseand went so far as to hang photos of Chairman Mao on theWH tree. · It was you who curtailed the military tribunals ofall Islamic terrorists. · It was you who refused to condemnthe Ft. Hood killer as an Islamic terrorist. · It is you who hasrefused to speak-out concerning the horrific executions ofwomen throughout the Muslim culture, but yet, have submit-ted Arizona to the UN for investigation of hypothetical hu-man-rights abuses.· It was you who when queried in India refused to acknowl-edge the true extent of radical global Jihadists, and insteadprofusely praised Islam in a country that is 82% Hindu andthe victim of numerous Islamic terrorists assaults. · It wasyou who funneled $900 Million in U.S. taxpayer dollars toHamas.· It was you who ordered the USPS to honor the MUSLIMholiday with a new commemorative stamp. · It was you whodirected our UK Embassy to conduct outreach to help "em-power" the British Muslim community. · It was you whofunded mandatory Arabic language and culture studies inGrammar schools across our country. · It is you who followsthe Muslim custom of not wearing any form of jewelry dur-ing Ramadan.· It is you who departs for Hawaii over the Christmas seasonso as to avoid past criticism for NOT participating in sea-sonal WH religious events. · It was you who was uncharac-teristically quick to join the chorus of the Muslim Brother-hood to depose Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, formerly America'sstrongest ally in North Africa; but, remain muted in your non-response to the Brotherhood led slaughter of Egyptian Chris-tians.· It was you who appointed your chief adviser, Valerie Jarrett,an Iranian, who is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, anoff-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. · It was you who saidthis country is not a Christian nation. … and I would like toadd the following two of my own:· It is you who despite therecent Muslim extremist attack in Paris, is determined to goahead with plans for accepting and settling Syrian refugeesin the U.S. even though our own FBI says there is no waythey can be “vetted” to assure there will be no terrorists amongthem.· It is you who is currently overseas insulting our state gover-nors and U.S. congressmen, and ignoring their pleas on be-half of the American people to halt Muslim immigration untilwe can be sure we are not jeopardizing the safety of our citi-zenry.”So, is he a Muslim? I wonder. Does it matter? I think it does.

“ PICK YOURSELF UP” AT L’ENSEMBLE CHAMBERMUSIC CONCERT SUNDAY, APRIL 10, 3 P.M. ATBENNINGTON’S OLDCASTLE THEATRECelebrating its third season in residence at Oldcastle Theatre, renowned L’Ensemble chamber musical group will present “PickYourself Up,” an afternoon of songs with lyrics by Broadwayand Hollywood greats Dorothy Fields and Sheldon Harnick,Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Oldcastle Theatre is located at 331Main St., Bennington, VT.Fields and Harnick, the subjects of “Pick Yourself Up,” resideat the very top-tier of American Songbook luminaries. One ofthe first successful Tin Pan Alley and Hollywood femalesongwriters, Fields wrote more than 400 songs for Broadwaymusicals and films. (In what would be called a “casting coup” inone of those 1930s’ movies, Fields’ son David Lahm will be thepianist for April 10 concert.) With Jerome Kern, she worked onthe movie version of “Roberta ” and also on their greatest suc-cess, “Swing Time,” with its classic “ The Way You Look To-night “ earning the Fields/Kern team an Oscar for Best Song. Her many Broadway successes include “Redhead” and “SweetCharity.” With her brother Herbert, she wrote the book for “AnnieGet Your Gun.”At age 91, Harnick is not resting on laurels that include threeTony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize. This theatre season alone, hehas been deeply involved with five productions of his work, including the current celebrated Broadway revival of “Fiddleron the Roof”; the just-opened Broadway revival of “She LovesMe”; a reconstructed “Rothschild & Sons,” recently performedoff-Broadway; “A Wonderful Life,” a 2015 production at theGoodspeed Opera House; and a new opera about Lady BirdJohnson (which will have its premiere in Texas this month). The performers at the April 10 concert will be Ida Faiella, So-prano; David Lahm, Piano; Bruce Williamson, Woodwinds; andDavid Finck, Bass.Harnick provided this personal message for the L’Ensemble con-cert program, “ Every lyricist hopes to have his work performedby singers who deeply understand the words they are singing. And when a singer not only understands those words but con-veys them to the audience with consummate artistry, a lyricistfeels blessed. Such an artist is Ida Faiella. When Ida informedme that she was devoting a program to my work and that ofDorothy Fields, I couldn’t have been more pleased. If Dorothywere still here, I know that she’d feel as blessed as I do!”Tickets for both concerts are $25 and $10 for students. Ticketsare available at www.oldcastletheatre.org or by calling (802) 447-0564.Founded in the mid 1970s, L’Ensemble’s musical mission hasalways been to stretch the definition of chamber music.L’Ensemble performs all facets of chamber music from Bach’sunaccompanied sonatas to fully-staged productions. Under thedirection of founder and artistic director Ida Faiella, L’Ensemble’srepertoire includes the classics and much more, from jazz-influ-enced works to cabaret arrangements of the standards by suchcomposers as Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwinand Leonard Bernstein. Sun. 12-3 Hi my name is Moose and I’m 4 years old.I came to SCAC because my environmentwent through many changes and I wasn’t ableto adjust so sadly I developed some behavioralproblems. I’m a very sweet boy that loves tolounge on the back of the couch and watchthe birds out the window. I prefer to stay inside
where I am warm and safe. I get along great with all animals, I’msubmissive and wouldn’t hurt a fly, but I like to keep to myself. Iwouldn’t mind living with dogs as long as they didn’t chase me, andkids are okay but I prefer a more quiet space. I love belly rubs and ILOVE to purr, I purr very loudly so I hope you don’t mind. If you’dlike to add my handsome face to your home then please stop by andspend some time with me. Hello my name is Jan. I’m around 10 years old and full of love. I wasfound as a stray with an abscess on my face butdon’t worry I’m all better now! I seem to get alongokay with the other cats at the shelter so a homewith other pets is fine as long as they respect me.I would love to spend most of my time curled uponto your lap or looking out a window. I wasrecently diagnosed with Hyper-Thyroid so I dohave to be on special food. If you’re interestedin a mellow girl to lounge around with then I’m your cat! Hi my name is Jayden! I am a 3 year old American Shelter Dog. I am
friendly, energetic, and happy. I was brought to SCACbecause I was too much for my previous home. I am veryhigh energy and love to play ball for hours. I was allowed towander the neighborhood at my previous home so I cannotbe off leash. I would be best fit for an active family with afenced yard. I can possibly go to a home with children, otherdogs, and cats. If I sound like I could be your next familymember, please come meet me at SCAC!
