PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
The conclusion to this school year has been challenging for students, parents, teachers, and staff with the ongoing labour dispute in our educa on system. Our District Superintendent, Jordan Tinney, has stated “We con nue to hope for a speedy resolu on at the bargaining table and we need to remain hopeful. I would be remiss however, if I did not suggest that parents should begin to think about the real possibility that we will be behind pickets come September. I know this is not what any of us wish but I also know that once summer gets going, August and September are not far away.” We all hope for a speedy conclusion to this dispute.
For report cards teachers have provided the final marks for all grade 12 students and we are able to produce report cards and transcripts for entrance into post‐secondary ins tu ons. It is important to know that teachers have provided the final marks of students in grade 12. For students in grades 10 and 11 we will have final marks in our Student Informa on System created by teachers and then reviewed by teachers a er they consider previous marks from earlier terms. The marks we trust are the marks entered and confirmed by teachers. In grades 8‐9, we do not have final marks for students and are therefore unable to complete a report card. The marks we have on file are a mixture of interim and final marks. We cannot determine a final grade without having our teachers consider all marks. All students in grade 8 and 9 who were enrolled in courses will be moved forward to their next logical course selec on (e.g. English 8 to English 9). If there are course changes to be made, these will be considered in the fall.
Report cards for grade 12 students will be available for pick‐up from the school office between 10:00‐2:00 Wednesday, July 2 and for grade 10 and 11’s Thursday, July 3 between 10:00‐2:00. A er that students can pick up their report cards from the office during regular summer hours of 10:00‐2:00.
The Grade 12 Dinner/Dance was held on June 27th at Newlands Golf & Country Club where students celebrated their gradua on from Queen Elizabeth Secondary School. The Dry Grad followed this event on an inner harbour cruise of Vancouver where students had a last chance to spend me with their school friends. I would like to thank the parents who volunteered to supervise these events to ensure they happened for the Grads of 2014. Thank you Michelle Rachmat, A k Rachmat, Lisa Sco , Kulvir Rai, Janice Cavanaugh, Chris ne Meeks, Kari Spooner, Rani Shergill, Sukhi Bains, Narinder Sidhu, Bhavika Da , Kelly Johnson, Terralyn Polege, and Dave Polege. Also, thank you to the Grad Council and the many teachers, staff, and students who have devoted countless hours of work to make these events memorable for our Grads and their families. Thank you to all these volunteers.

On behalf of Queen Elizabeth Secondary’s administration and staff, we would like to wish our Royal families a safe, fun and
relaxing summer! See you all in September!

Some courses offer optional certifications or external examinations for which there are also charges. No student will be denied the ability to participate in any part of the school’s educational programs as a result of an inability to pay.
