Coming together to protect and restore Puget Sound’s vital shoreline ecosystems
Puget Sound Shoreline ConServation Collaborative
The 2,500 miles of Puget Sound shoreline are vital to our state’s economy, watershed health, and regional culture. These shorelines support critical habitat for salmon, forage fish, birds, and marine mammals, but shorelines are in decline due to habitat destruction, pollution, and a changing climate. In response, the Shoreline Conservation Collaborative was formed in 2014 to increase the amount of permanently protected healthy shoreline throughout Washington’s Salish Sea. The Collaborative is working with communities across the region to protect and restore these threatened beaches, tidelands, and estuaries. With your help, we can ensure that they support salmon, orcas, and our quality of life for generations to come.
the Collaborative has set ambitious goals for its first 10 years, seeking to more than triple the impact of its members. We will:
• Protect 38 miles of at-risk shorelines
• Restore 5 miles of vital shoreline habitat
Why land trusts?Washington’s land trusts are uniquely poised to tackle this issue. Land trusts:
• Use conservation tools to permanently protect our lands and waters
• Restore habitat through sound science, technical expertise, and diverse partnerships
• Work hand-in-hand with supportive local communities
