12 mm toughened glass is assessed to be sufficient for balustrade, max. height 1.0 m, width 1.4 m, two spigot support and 1.2 m high for swimming pool fence.

4. WIND LOAD ASSESSMENT
Panel Pressure based on test = 200 kg/m2
Consider external pressure coefficient (Cpe) of 1.2 Hence, q (basic)= 1.66 kPa Basic Wind Speed, Vz = 52.6 mis
Hence, Balustrade is suitable for "VERY HIGH" wind zone
5. FIXINGS
Max. BM along the base of glass = 1 kPa x 1.5 x 1.4 x 1.2112 x 0.5 = 1.51 kNm (infill pressure, pool fence, 1.2 m) = 1.1 kNm (for balustrade 1 m height)
BM to each Vice= 1.51/2 = 0.76 kNm (for pool fence) or 0.55 kNm for balustrade
The fixings are 75 mm apart. Hence the maximum tensile load to the fixing is:
= 10.1 kN = 7.3 kN
Anchor Types

MB Chemset Anchors to Concrete Capacity= 14.4 x 0.93 = 13.4 kN Hence, OK
M8 G4.6 Bolts to Steel Members Capacity= 0.8 x 400 MPa x 50 mm2 = 16 kN Hence, OK
M8 bolts to timber Capacity is controlled by bearing on 50 mm x 50 mm square washers
= 0.7 x 5.3 MPa x 50,..2 9.3 kN Hence, OK for balustrade
Use 65 x 65 washer for pool fence MS Coach Screws to Timber
Capacity= 0.7 x 0.8 x 96 N/mm x 0.7 (wet) = Required embedment = 120 mm

6.SUMMARY
In summary, the panel & fixings tested conform to the following:
LOADS:
live Load: For Domestic Occupancy types A and C3 (residential only) of AS/NZS 1170:2002, Table 3.3
Wind Load: VERY HIGH as per NZS 3604
GLASS:
Thickness: 12 mm Toughened Grade A
Maximum height is 1 m above finished floor level for Balustrade situations
and 1.2 m height for Swimming Pool fence
FIXINGS:
Stainless steel spigots
Fixing of spigots to substrate to comprise any of the following:
4/ M8 Chemset anchors (Maxima spin capsules or Epcon C6 series)
41MB G4.6 bolts to steel member
4/M8 bolts or coach screws to timber
Notes:
1. It is assumed that the strength and stiffness of the substrate is sufficient to adequate resist
the balustrade loads - this must be confirmed for each installation situation.
2. The fixings must comply with the durability requirements on the Building Code
