AIDS Action Europe’s mission
• To unite civil society to work towards a more effective response to the HIV epidemic in Europe and Central Asia
• We strive for better protection of human rights and universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support
• We work towards a reduction of health inequalities in Europe focussing on most at risk populations and on Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia

AIDS Action Europe Office
• Network created in 2004• Hosted by STI AIDS Netherlands at Amsterdam office:
Executive Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Fundraising/M&E Coordinator and Programme Assistant (part-time)
• Lithuanian office closed as of 2010• Host organisation AIDS Foundation East-West
(AFEW) in Russia for project ROST and Russian website and Clearinghouse
Strategic objectives
We aim to strengthen civil society’s contribution to a more effective response to the HIV epidemic by:
• Making an effective and meaningful contribution to regional and national policies related to HIV and AIDS
• Facilitating continuous exchange among NGOs on good practices and lessons learned related to HIV and AIDS
• Developing a stronger, more effective organisation and network

IQhiv: new initiative
• WHO Europe, BZgA, AIDS Action Europe• Mission: Improve the effectiveness of HIV prevention
initiatives in Europe by providing tools and technical assistance to implement quality improvement
practices
The IQhiv initiative: objectives
• Promote the routine inclusion of quality improvement practices into HIV prevention across Europe at the project, program and policy levels
• Disseminate information on quality improvement practices that have been shown to enhance the effectiveness of HIV prevention at the project, program and policy levels

• Ensure that HIV patients enter care earlier in the course of their infection
• Study the decrease in the proportion of PLHIV presenting late for care
• Identify and tackle political, structural, clinical and social barriers to testing & treatment
