all rounds of voting.

• No more than three (3) absentee/same day ballots may be brought in by one person.
SAME DAY BALLOTING/ABSENTEE BALLOTINGOUT OF STATE MILITARY AND RELIGIOUS SERVICE• Registered republicans serving outside the state of Utah on active military duty or religious service may contact the
following to request approval to cast his/her ballot in their precinct election:
• The State Party
• Precinct chair and vice-chair
• The request must be made at least 72 hours before the caucus begins.
• The absent person must specify what is prohibiting him/her from attending in person.
• The precinct chair will verify on the paper registration sheet that the absentee person is a registered republican who resides in their precinct.
• Once that person is verified, the person may cast his/her ballot via email to the precinct chair and vice-chair.
• The ballot will include the position and name of candidate running.
• The precinct chair will print the email message (which becomes the ballot), seal it in an envelope affixed with the precinct chair’s signature and is to be used in all rounds of voting at the caucus meeting.

VOTING
VOTINGPrecinct decides voting method: majority or plurality (multiple round or IRV).
Precinct decides how long each candidate may speak. (30 seconds – 1 minute suggested)
Before each election, read responsibilities of each position and dates required for each delegate to attend their convention + current email address + phone number
Start nominations: Precinct officers, county delegates, state delegates, presidential preference vote.
If whiteboard is clean in classroom, use whiteboard for elections.
oIf whiteboard has writing on it, do not use it and do not erase it.
oUse pad of paper instead.
After all nominees had an opportunity to speak, restate their names and begin balloting.
VERY IMPORTANT
• Credentialing is closed when voting begins and may re-open after voting for that position is
finished and ballots are in the counting room.
• Must have a credential count before casting any ballots. To count credentials, add up all yellow
highlighted lines on the check-in sheets plus all the names on the caucus attendee roll. Write
the number of credentialed attendees on the corresponding tally sheet for that election.
• Family Members of those running for office
are NOT to be involved in counting ballots
MARKING THE CREDENTIALWHEN CASTING A BALLOT
• When attendee casts
presidential ballot in box,
mark his/her credential with
“P” in dark colored permanent
marker on their wristband.
• Each time attendee casts
delegate/precinct officer ballot in
box, mark his/her credential with a
tally mark (“I”) in dark colored pen
or permanent marker on their
wristband. The number of tallies
should not be more than the
number of elections held.
