ANNEXURE

PRASAR BHARATI (PROGRAMMING) INTERNSHIP POLICY, 2014

Prasar Bharati. India's Public Service Broadcaster, proposes to provideopportunities to select students and graduates of media related courses tointern in its organization for gaining experience of actually working onproduction of programmes for Radio and/or Television in AIR or Doordarshan.

2. Opportunities for internship will be given to fresh Graduates/PostGraduates/ Post Graduate Diploma holders from select Government of IndiaMedia Institutes.

3. Objective

The objective of the internship would be to attract select students andgraduates from Government of India Media Institutes and provide them theopportunity of working on and producing programmes based on the outlineto be submitted at the time of applying· for the internship. Thiswould benefitthe applicant by his/her gaining experience of producing a programme forradio/television/new media in accordance with the broad outline/conceptsubmitted with the application. Prasar Bharati would benefit by getting new,creative ideas and content made by students/graduates from such institutes.

4. Implementation Outline

(a) Prasar Bharafi will engage up to 20 interns in a calendar year.(b) Applicants should be completing/have completed their

graduate/post-graduates degree/post graduate diploma in aradio/television/journalism/mass media course or related field from oneof the following institutes:(i) Film and Television Institute, Pune

(ii) Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata(iii) Media Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi(iv) Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, Orissa & Aizwal

(c) The period of internship will be for six months - with the possibility ofextension by another six months or part thereof (at the discretion ofPrasar Bharati). No further extension will be allowed.

'(d) A consolidated monthly stipend of Rs.20,000/- toRs. 25,000/- would bepaid to the interns, depending on category.

(e) Applications will be invited once annually by Prasar Bharati, before 31St

January each year, from interested candidates who expect tocomplete their studies during the calendar year or have completedtheir studies and obtained the degree/ post graduate diploma in theprevious calendar year. Applications may be addressed to AdditionalDirector General (Operations), Prasar Bharati, 2nd Floor, PTI Building,Sansad Marg, New Delhi - 110001.

(f) Applications for students who are still to complete their studies shouldbe recommended by the Head of the lnstltute concerned. In case ofstudents who have completed their studies, the application should beaccompanied by a copy of their degree/ post graduate certificate.

(g) Applications received within the prescribed time and found valid willbe evaluated by a Selection Committee consisting of the ADGs(Programming) in AIR and Doordarshan and ADG (Operations) inPrasar Bharati.

(h) The Selection Committee will recommend up to 20 individuals (in orderof merit, based on their academic record and programme productionproposal) for being engaged as interns, specifically indicating the typeof programme to be made by each intern and the mentor underwhom he/she will work.

(i) A sub-committee consisting of three Mentors (of the level of DDGsProgramming) will review all the programmes produced and identifythe best three programmes whose producers (interns) will be awardedCertificates of Merit.

(j) An internal review of the functioning of this policy will be made afterthe first year of its implementation by the Selection Committee [sub-paragraph (g) above], which may recommend changes to be madein the policy' or its implementation. Thereafter, reviews should beundertaken after every three years.

5. Other Requirements for Training in Media Related Subjects

Hands on experience of programme production for Radio and/ orTelevision for students sponsored by Institutes conducting courses onmedia related subjects is an ongoing activity of National Academy ofBroadcasting & Multimedia, AIR & Doordarshan, Kingsway Camp,Delhi-llO009. Interested students may apply directly for such training.
