Introduction

WelcometothePrecisionsoundPraktikCittraNo.6,ararezither.ThissamplelibrarycapturesanexperimentalmodelmadebyAdolfLarsson,theinventorofthechordzither.Itwasmadeintheearly1900s.

TheNo.6hasamelodysectionwiththreestringsforeachnote,likeasantoor.Italsohastwosoundboardsontopofeachother.

UnderneaththemelodysectionisachordsectionsimilartothemorecommonmodelsfromLarsson’szitherfactoryinFinspång,Sweden.

Wehavefocusedthislibraryonthemelodysection,allowingthechordstringstoactasaresonatorunderneath.Theresultisahugeandairyresonancearoundeverynote.

Thisisatrulyuniqueinstrumentwithacharactersuitableforanymusicthatneedssomesweetandairypluckedstrings.

Single+EnsemblePanel

WhentheSingle+Ensemblearticulationisactive,twosamplesaretriggeredsimultaneouslyforeachnote–asinglepluckedstring,andanensembleofthreepluckedstrings.Bydefault,theyareatthesamepitchandtime.ThecontrolsintheSingle+Ensemblepanelenableyoutoadjustthepitchandtimeofonesampleinrelationtotheother.

Coarse:setsthetranspositionoftheensemblestringsinsemitonesteps,toamaximumof+/-1octave.

Fine:setsthetuningoftheensemblestringsincents.

Offset:setsthedelayinmillisecondsbetweenstrikingthesinglestring,andstrikingtheensemblestrings,whenanoteisplayed.

Balance:blendsthesingleandensemblestrings.WhenBalanceiszero,thesingleandensemblestringsareequalinvolume.WhenBalanceisat-12,youhearonlythesinglestring.WhenBalanceisat+12,youhearonlytheensemblestrings.

! ThecontrolsintheSingle+EnsemblepanelareenabledonlywhentheSingle+Ensemblearticulationisselected.

Thebuttonsactivateeithertremolooranarpeggiopattern.Tremolomodeismonophonic,requiringonlyonenotetobeheld.Arpeggiomodeispolyphonic,requiringatleasttwonotestobeheld.

WhentheOffbuttonisselected,theinstrumenttriggersnotesexactlyasyouplaythem,anddoesnotgenerateapatternorchangethenotesthatyouplay.

! Modwheelcontroloftremoloandarpeggiospeedisadditionaltomodwheelcontrolofbrightness,describedaboveinthesectiononarticulations.

Rate:setsthetimeintervalbetweengeneratednotes,syncedtothehosttempofrom1/64to1/4.WhenRateisturnedfullyclockwise,theSpeeddialbecomesactive,andthetimeintervalbetweennotescanbesetfreely.

Speed:setsthetimeintervalbetweengeneratednotes,from50to1500milliseconds,independentofthehosttempo.

Delay

Time:setsthegapinmillisecondsbetweendelayrepetitions.

Feedback:setstheextenttowhichrepetitionsgeneratedbythedelayarefedbackintothedelay,toproducemorerepetitions.At100%,thedelaycontinuesregeneratingindefinitely.

On/off:enablesordisablesthedelayeffect.

Tone:setsthehigh-frequencydampingoftherepetitionsgeneratedbythedelay,where0%providesnodamping,and100%providesfulldampingforadarkersound.
