PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDIT
REQUIREMENT INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS
September 2020
September 2020 Dear Principals and Guidance Counsellors: Re: Personal Development Credits It is our intention that administration of the Personal Development Credit at the school level will be easy to manage. To that end, the responsibility for application to have a personal development credit recognized on the student transcript rests with the student. Schools will be required to ensure that the documentation provided by the student to the school is authentic. When applying for a Personal Development Credit, students are to provide guidance counsellors with a Student Notification Form (sample enclosed) and the appropriate documentation from program providers indicating that they have completed the course. Included in this package are samples of the documentation that each of the approved providers has submitted. Schools can accept the Student Notification Form and the appropriate documentation any time after a student has entered high school but before June 1 of the year the student graduates. The updated provider list for the 2020-21 school year is enclosed for your convenience and also appears on the Personal Development Credit website at pdc.ednet.ns.ca.
We are pleased that students will have an opportunity to have their learning beyond the classroom recognized on their transcript. Thank you for your support in the implementation of personal development credits. Sincerely, Sue Taylor-Foley Executive Director Education Innovation, Programs and Services c Director of Programs and Services
Program Coordinator Student Services Coordinator
