PC104 bus parallel data acquisition series products
PC104 is an extension of ISA (IEEE-996) standard. The first PC104 was generated in 1987, butthe formal specification was declared in 1992. Then more and more people took interest in PC104.
One hundred and twenty five factories introduced PC104 specification to manufacture PC104compatible products. In 1991, IEEE started to formulate a simplified IEEE-P996 standard (draft)for PC and ISA bus standard. PC104 was adopted as a basic file, and called IEEE-P996.1compatible PC embedded module standard.
PC104 is a dedicated industrial control bus for embedded control. In fact, PC104 is a compactIEEE-P996. The signal definition is similar as PC/AT, but the mechanical specification iscompletely different. It is a more optimized, small-sized, stacked structure embedded controlsystem.
The major differences between PC104 and common PC/AT ISA bus control system are:
1. Small-sized structure: The mechanical size of standard module is 3.63.8 inch, namely
9690mm.2. Stacked connection: Remove bus backboard and slide track of plug board; the bus is
connected with cascading in the form of needle and hole. That is to say, the connection ofbuses between PC104 bus modules are crossly bitten back and joined through the needle on upperlayer and hole on the lower layer. This cascade capsulation has very good performance ofearthquake resistance.
3. Easy bus drive: reduce element quantity and power consumption. 4mA bus drive can makethe module operate normally. Each module consumes 1-2 Watts.

Overview
By adopting synchronous parallel design, two pieces high-speed 40MSPS 12-bit ADCs, 40Msmall scaled encapsulated crystal oscillator and two independent programmable gain channelscomposed of high speed precise operational amplifier and precise attenuation filter network areintegrated into the card to achieve large dynamic signal acquisition range of 40Mv~40V with apre-amplifier. Gain errors and zero-bias of each channel can be removed independently by DAQcontrollers fine-tuning which facilitates this product with high measurement accuracy and phaseconsistency. No manual adjustable component insures the high reliability and stability of theproducts.
Analog Input
The Acquisition card has designed the independent time base and the clock controller. Whilecascading multiple acquisition of system, each card may have different sampling rate. The triggerlines and clock lines of each board cascade through local bus connecter. Under the control of theunified clock and triggering, the acquisition system achieves the full-synchronized acquisition.The maximum sampling rate of PEM4712 A/D is 40Msps with 18- level sampling rate setting.Each channel can separately control the gain setting with a range of 1V. The maximum samplingdepth of each channel can achieve up to 4Msa. The specially designed ring buffer facilitatespre-trigger sampling function, which is suitable for signal recording of transience process of
engineering. Delay of pre-trigger and post-trigger samples can cover the maximum period.

Triggering Sources
PEM4712 has wide range of triggering sources, including software (manual), internal and externaltriggering. Internal triggering level can be set up freely within current range with options oftriggering conditions of rising edge, falling edge, internal dual-threshold, external dual-threshold;
external signal complies with TTL electrical standard with options of effectiveness of rising edgeand falling edge. Through setting multiple triggering modes, accurate capture of variouscharacteristic signals can be guaranteed.

PEM4311
Arbitrary Waveform Generator Module
Overview
PEM4311 is an embedded arbitrary waveformgenerator module based on PC104 bus. It isespecially applicable for the user to developmeasurement & control instrument productwith special application. It may generateroutine waveforms such as sine wave, squarewave, saw-toothed wave, pulse wave andnoise to realize frequency modulation andamplitude modulation. In addition, PEM4311can output appointed waveform document byuser or generate waveform with mathematicalexpression.
PEM4311 adopts DDS, FPGA and SRAM. The DDS CORE controller drives to generatearbitrary waveforms with output repeat frequency range from 0.02Hz to 5MHz with 0.02Hzadjusting step. High-speed swept output driven by software may generate the output effect ofFM/AM.
The users can embed PEM4311 to target system to carry on development. PEM4311 can bewidely used at various situations that need all kinds of complex signal sources or excitationsources. It can be used in these field such as automatic measurement & control system,communication system test, product test in product line, frequency feature test and laboratorysimulation.
