Key Scholarship Application Elements
• Application form– Must be neat, thorough, accurate
• Essay– Be specific about your experience, tell a good story, edit
several times and use a reviewer• Resume– Assure it’s current, accurate, neat. Use CIS to create this
• References– Verify that they are willing and knowledgeable about
scholarship area

How to Apply for Scholarships• Use CIS Financial Aid Sort• Decide which scholarships apply to you • Develop a plan for submitting your applications
by scholarship deadlines• Finalize your resume• Secure reference letters• Contact the scholarship provider to assure your
application was received (after submission) • Report any aid you receive to your college.
