From the Pastor:
My dear friends in Christ,
We have all heard this parable of the talents. The first two servants take what the master has given them and they go out and make a return on the investment thus pleasing the Master. The third servant buries his share in the ground. This was a common practice in the ancient world for keeping valuables secure. The Master sees this as a sign of wickedness and laziness. The fear of the Master’s authority and power should have led to servant to invest the Masters money. The servant wasn’t willing to move beyond fear and take a risk. He was afraid to look ahead. He was not alert, ready, or prepared. We must be willing to take risks like the first two servants on behalf of the Kingdom, another way to be ready for Christ’s return. I would like to thank the Knights of Columbus and Women’s Auxiliary for their hard work last week. They collected food for Catholic Charities. Thanks to all who contributed food items or a monetary donation.
This Thursday we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It’s a time to gather with our families and friends and share that big meal (turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, pies) etc … and, of course, watch football. Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November to be "… a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens." We are truly blessed for the many blessings that God bestows upon us.
Why not show how blessed and thankful we are by attending Mass this Thursday. The Thanksgiving Day Mass will be at 9:00 AM in the Church followed by refreshments in Bogdan Hall.
May God Bless You All and Happy Thanksgiving!
Father John
Parish Mass of Thanksgiving On Thursday, November 23, Thanksgiving Day, our Parish Mass of Thanksgiving will be offered at 9:00 AM. Father John hopes you can be with us as we thank God for His many blessings upon our parish as well as upon each and every one of us and our families. After Mass, please join us in Bogdan Hall for Coffee and Cake. If you will be “over the river and through the woods” and cannot be with us on Thursday morning, we wish you a safe journey and a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving Day with your family and loved ones.
BLESSING OF THE MANGER
AND OUR PARISH TREE LIGHTING Saturday, December 9, 2017
The Blessing of the Manger and Lighting of the Tree will take place immediately after the 4:00 PM Mass. These events are parish favorites. We hope you can join us as we gather to sing Christmas carols and enjoy some sweet treats. Hope you’ll be with us to lend your hearts and voices on this occasion as we prepare for His coming.

Our Mass Book for the Year 2018 is now open. Intentions will be accepted for both Weekday and Sunday Masses. This year, there will be no limitations on the number of Masses you may request. Sanctuary Lamp reservations may also be made at this time should you be interested.

A Thanksgiving Prayer
Oh, God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a warm home, help me to remember the homeless;
When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer;
And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency
and bestir my compassion. Make me concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry out
for what we take for granted. Amen.
