"Outstanding Contribution to Education Award 2015" for Knowledge,
Skill Development and Leadership for the Upliftment of the Society
Conferred at Taj Lands’ End, Mumbai on 23rd July 2015
World Education Congress (WEC) a major congregation and platform of Vice Chancellors
and Leading Educationists from all over the World has conferred the ‚Outstanding
Contribution to Education Award 2015" for Knowledge, Skill Development and Leadership
for the Upliftment of the Society to Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG&CEO, ATDC & IAM at the World
Education Congress & Awards on 23rd July 2015 at Taj Lands’ End, Mumbai.
The Award consists of a Citation and a Trophy.
The World Education Congress Award Citation reads: ‘Dr. Darlie Koshy’s leadership and
contribution to the field of Education is well known. The position that he occupies in the
fraternity is strategic and iconic. As a thinker and doer he is a role model and a believer in
change. World Education Congress is pleased to write that the Jury and Council of Board
members would like to confer “AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO
EDUCATION” to Dr. Darlie O Koshy.
The award was conferred by Mr. Debashish Bhiswas CEO, CIMA in the presence of Dr. C.

ATDC set to roll-out Training of Trainers Programmes for Trainers /
Assessors of Implementing Agencies of ISDS -Signs MoU with Textiles
Committee
Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) has signed on 29th July 2015 an MOU with
Textiles Committee (a statutory body under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India)
in order to fulfill the need for ‘high quality trainers’ who are in short supply. For the target
of 15 lakhs candidates to be trained the IAS need to have additional 10,000 to 12,000 trainers
capable of having the various trade courses being rolled out which matter to how. The
ATDC TOT trainers’ academies with the RSA Textiles Committee will endeavour to
commence from Annual Training Programme and 3 days Orientation will be the main focus.
ATDC-TOT Academy will provide its expertise and resources in Contents Development and
organize and conduct the ‘Training of Trainers’ Programmes for Trainers / Assessors
Implementing Agencies of ISDS.
The Textiles Committee has been selected and designated as Resource Support Agency
(RSA) under the 12th FYP for Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) of the
Government of India for Textiles and Clothing Sector. The Textiles Committee in
collaboration with ATDC as a knowledge partner will facilitate and undertake the training
of Trainers programmes for the Apparel Sector for improvement in pedagogy, teaching
methodology and instructional techniques apart from having also focus areas viz.
improvement of productivity & efficiency etc.
There is a vital requirement of training good quality trainers in ‘Teaching Pedagogy’ while
also further developing their Core Competencies in Vocational Training in Apparel. ATDC
Training of Trainers Academy in 3 locations Gurgaon, Chhindwara and Thiruvanthapuram
enable Faculty Resource upgradation programmes bringing innovation and latest
technological know-how to the Apparel Industry.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. P Nayak, Secretary, Textiles Committee said ‚The main goal is
to upgrade the knowledge base and skill levels of trainers and assessors. The orientation
programme which develop them in basic pedagogy and teaching techniques while assuring
their basic domain knowledge. Besides, they are encouraged to develop an industry oriented
approach in their instructional methods.‛ Dr. Ram Asray Lal, Sr. General Manager
Technical, ATDC suggested that ‚ATDC-TOT Academies serve the Apparel Industry by
providing skilled trainers and domain experts to help in achieving its skilling and
upgradation goal and this MoU will enable steps in this direction‛.

ATDC Surat organised Awareness Programme on Silk Mark
In order to identify the actual and what is silk mark ATDC Surat organised an Awareness programmes. Shri V Ramesh Deputy Director Silk Board and Mr Alok Kumar Assistant Director Silk Board, Bombay offered insights into the mark which certifies that the piece of textile which bears the mark is made of pure natural silk. They explained to the students the details as how the silk mark is in the form of Paper Hang tag and sew-in label. These are affixed only on pure silk products by the Authorised Users of Silk Mark. Each label has a hologram and a unique number printed on it which helps the consumers to trace the product to its Authorised User. They interacted with student distribute the prize to the successful candidates.
Counselling Session for Up-skilling in ATDC Indore
ATDC Indore organised a counselling session for Up-skilling ATDC students and also gave
farewell to AVI final year students. Mr. Pradip Sharma, Dy. Director, Jila Panchayat, Khadi
Village Industries Board (KVIB) addressed the students on this occasion. On the same day ATDC
Indore conducted a Garment Display Competition of garments prepared by students. Students
formed three groups AM/AMT group, FD/FDT group & APSQC group. The Garments were
displayed beautifully with the available resources. Jury liked and appreciated the efforts of the
students.

Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Mrs. Sreemathi visited ATDC Kannur and interacted with the
students and appreciated ATDCs efforts and assured the necessary support in near future.
TISCO & TATA Steel officials visited ATDC Tatanagar
Mr. T V Narendran, Managing Director TISCO, along with Tata Steel officials visited ATDC
Tatanagar. They interacted with the students and inquired about courses run by ATDC and
Placement of students. The officials were impressed by the latest & advance training facility
