Description
Strategy: working with Members, managers and staff on the re-vamping of our corporate
plan and community strategy, so that they provide strategic direction and progress is
measurable.
Performance: meeting statutory requirements to produce an annual Best Value
Performance Plan, but more importantly, the production of regular, high quality
performance information of Members and senior managers to enable them to take
correction action and tackle under performance e.g. recovery plan, Top 45 etc.
Communications: press and media handling, communications strategy including a
consultation policy to help meet the Local Government Act 1999 duty to consult and a
revamped Citizen’s Panel.
Customer Policy: working closely with the Head of E-Government and Customer, the
development of a customer strategy for the whole Council including customer training,
mystery shoppers, customer awards etc.
Policy: supporting Members in building policy responses on various issues that impact on
the District. Forthcoming examples will include the various NHS re-configurations, the
Local Area Agreement etc. Also supporting the work of the Local Strategic Partnership,
which the Government is very keen on.

Develops and manages planning policy within the Regional Spatial Strategy, through the
