The Intelsat group.
Intelsat, S.A. is a communications satellite services provider.
It was originally formed as International TelecommunicationsSatellite Organization (INTELSAT), it wasfrom 1964 to 2001an intergovernmental consortium owning and managing a
constellation of communications satellites providinginternational broadcast services.
Intelsat operates a fleet of 52 communications satellites, whichis the world's largest fleet of commercial satellites.

Expected life: 15 years.
Located at 72 degrees East Longitude over the Indian Ocean.
Launched from Baikonur, Kazakhasthan. Launch mass (kg): 6199
Dry mass (kg): 2789
It is designed to have two unfolded solar arrays for providing
electrical energy in the event of power system failure.

History of Proton M.
Lead designer was Vladimir Chelomei, who designed it Gross Liftoff with the intentionof creating both a powerful rocket for military payloads and a high-performance ICBM.
The program was changed, and the rocket was developed exclusively for launchingspacecraft.
First named UR-500, but adopted the name UDMH and NTO Proton, also was the name of the first three payloads launched.
Proton launched Russian interplanetary missions to the Moon, Venus, Mars, andHalleys Comet.
Proton launched the Salyut space stations, the Mir core segment and both the Zarya(Dawn) and Zvezda (Star) modules for todays International Space Station.
First commercial Proton launch 9 April 1996. First commercial Proton M Breeze M launch 30 December 2002

Technical details of Proton M.
The Proton Briz-M rocket launcher is equippedwith R-4D, four SPT-100 plasma thrusterspropulsion system. It was designed and built by
the Khrunichev State Research and SpaceProduction Center of Moscow.
Its designation was derived from the 'Proton'rocket and the 'Briz-M' booster stage.

The Intelsat 22 C-band payload consists of 48operational 36 MHz channels.
Two antennas provide service to the Africa and
Asia regions. There is some cross connect capability
between the two regions.

Added to the Intelsat 22 satellite as a result of

Earth Stations.
Ground control handled by Boeing Space andIntelligence Systems (BSIS)' Intelsat-22
The IS-22 can be controlled by four operationalcentres, which include Africa, Asia, Middle East andEurope, using ground control equipment hardwareand software. The ground station is designed andmanufactured by BSIS.
It is equipped with telemetry tracking and command(TT&C) system to monitor and control the spacecraftthrough commands.

Applications.
The IS-22 is equipped with 48 C-band and 24 Ku-band 36MHz equivalenttransponders to offer services to network providers, government and mediacustomers in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle Eastern regions.
It boasts 18 UHF active high power transponders of 25kHz bandwidth torender services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The UHF band is
deployed for military applications due to its adaptability to compact andmobile terminals used by ground, sea and air force.
The spacecraft renders possible solutions for audio, video and dataservices using small earth stations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, theIndian Ocean and Asian regions. It also enables broadband connectivity inaircraft and ships.
