Planning Listening Skills (MBI - Course)
TOPIC/THEME:- HEROES NEAR AND FAR
LEARNING OUTCOMES
2.0 Obtain information for different purposes by:
a) Listening to spoken texts such as talks, speeches and viewing television documentaries

PROCEDURES:-
a. Pre-listening

Pre-listening (10 minutes)
Teacher introduces the list of Malaysia Prime Minister (refer appendix 1)
List down the characteristics /qualities of a selected hero
Eg: Tun Mahathir Mohamad (appendix 2)
While listening (10minutes)
Listen to the text and fill in the blanks
(appendix 3)
Post listening (20 minutes)
Using the words learnt, write a short paragraph about your own hero (group work)
Present to the class

d. Closure
v) Teacher asks students to work again in the same group and discuss the task given.vi) Students
have to present their opinions in front of the class

2. Write an article
PROCEDURES:1. Teacher introduces some common logical connectors to the students.

2. Teacher distributes the article on the effects and benefits of spending time on the computer.

FoodNowadays, there are so many varieties of food in the world that people
like to eat. Some types of food that we eat are good and bad for us. So, we haveto make a choice of what we want to eat and what we need to avoid. Healthyfood is the food that contains a balanced diet and unhealthy food is the food thatcan harm our health.
Healthy food is good for us because it can help us to strengthen ourimmune system so that we will not get sick. There are many types of food thatcan be classified as healthy food such as fruits, vegetables, oats, wholemealbread and soup. We should take these kinds of food because our body needvitamins. Fruits like bananas and papayas are good for our digestive system.We also must drink plain water at least eight glasses per day to keep our body
hydrated.Unhealthy food contains chemical substances as additional flavours orcolours to make them more delicious and look appetizing. Candies, instantnoodles, cakes and ice-cream are classified as unhealthy food and we shouldavoid from taking them. These types of food are very synonymous with children.If we take too much of those food we might face health problems and diseasessuch as obesity, diabetes and high-blood pressure.
As humans, we should take more healthy food than unhealthy food. Allkinds of healthy food can allow us to get more vitamins and energy for our body.Proteins like fish and beef can heal our broken tissues. Eating vegetables andfruits is good for us as they provide fibre. For those who take too much food thatcontains a lot of fat and sugar, they might get many types of diseases. We also

must reduce drinking carbonated drinks because these types of drinks contain alot of sugar which can cause diabetes.
In conclusion, we need to take healthy food according to the food pyramid
daily and at the same time we should try to reduce eating unhealthy food like
junk food. Remember that we eat to live and not live to eat.
