Intermitted SpaceUrban Nature
Boat house in lagoon of Berkeley attempts to
act as an interface between urban and natural life. As a metaphor, an athlete inserts their oar in the water, the blade of their oars sweeps the water towards the stern, providing forward thrust. Water displaces quickly over the blade, creates a temporary void at the back of the oar, as shown in oar studies above. This beautiful interaction inspires me to recreate this condition in relationship of human and natural.

As the 2-story main building position itself of an offset for the shoreline, landscape transforms its surrounding, so
that the view from the nature side will remain organic. A berm is risen in front of the building, following the roof extend into the lagoon, created a new shore condition -- walkable roof/shoreline, which creates a common space that can enjoyed by both residents and wild animals. When athletes enter main building, they also under trans-formation. The boat house equips with world class training center and boat facility, preparing trainees interfacing the drag of water and wind.

SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES
With a goal of LEED platinum in mind, this project has a vagarious
implementation of advanced strategy for stainability without compromising cost and usability. Based on our simulation, this building composes on 40% post-consumer recycled materials, and save 70% of energy compare to a typical building with a similar size.

Density in the city has become a problem
to human civilization. Wealth and spaces are not distributed and alloted equally among every citizen; and qualify of life is scarified for business productivity. This project strives to accentuate what is most lacking in the current condition by implementing a new system of providing personalizable and pleasurable space within the pre-estimated perimeter.
