Volume 18, Issue 1 January/February 2019
Carol asked me to sub for her on the President’s letter for this issue.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and look forward
to seeing you all at some of our paint in’s next year.
Luana has been busy setting up a great schedule for 2019. We kick
it off January 5 with a Fun Day. Due to the fact that the November
Acrylic Pour class had to be cancelled, Deb Welty will be doing it at
the January Fun Day. The class is free to members, however if you
would like to bring a guest it is $10.00 for non-members. Deb is
providing a lot of materials, but check the last page of the newsletter
for a list of supplies you should bring. Later in the day, Deb will
demo some techniques using some new Decoart products.
We are needing to replenish our supply for memory boxes, so the
February paint in will be a memory box workshop. This would be a
great time to get together, socialize and get some boxes painted.
Please make sure you let Luana know if you plan to attend in
January and February, so that she knows how many people to plan
for.
Kathye Begala will be teaching a Fruit Still Life in oils in March.
Luana will be sending out the sign up sheets as soon as she finalized
the details.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Get Together at Harrington’s on the Bay
By Chery Ripley
Every year our painting group NEDA, celebrates Christmas
together. On December 1, 2018, we met at the Harrington's
restaurant for lunch. Carol Spangler, Kim Yager, Chery Ripley,
Terri Councilor, and Luana Dueweke attended the
luncheon. During the luncheon, each member exchanged their
hand painted ornament with another member. We also had a
short board meeting to discuss future classes, the future board
members for 2019, what is trending in art, and finishing up the
2018 year end reports. Laughter and fellowship was shared by
all. A picture was taken after the luncheon. Kim Yager had to
leave before the picture was taken and is not in the picture.
Kit contains: White & Black Paint, premixed flow base, floetrol or Deco Art Flow Medium, Metallic
Paints, and the oil to make cells, and other little misc. needed supplies, stirring sticks, mixing cups, etc.
Each student will bring: a 6x6 inch canvas for 1st painting, then bring a couple more (2-4) 8x10 or 10x10
canvas to try more interesting techniques. If you want to have black in your design, then base coat your
canvas in ivory black. To hold each canvas up out of the dripping paint, put large push pins in each
corner on the backside of the canvas or you can use a rack for cooling cookies. (These can be purchased
at the Dollar Tree 2 for $1.00. While at Dollar Tree pickup foil pans (larger than your canvases) 2 for
$1.00 to take your wet canvases home. Pizza boxes or Aldi canned goods boxes can be used too, just
make sure your largest canvas will fit in these boxes. Bring your favorite 2 or 3 acrylic paint colors.
Teacher will bring some & I will bring the extra paints from the Lydia Steeves class. If you would like,
bring bling, jewels, or glitter that you would like to sprinkle onto your painting. Bring a pair of rubber
gloves if you like, but not required
