IntroductIon
The Signal Tech II tester is a powerful handheld technician tool designed for use in dealership service environments. The Signal Tech II is used to diagnose Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) and to check Intelligent Key function.
The Signal Tech II can be used by technicians, in Express Service, or by service writers for preliminary diagnosis and low tire pressure adjustments.
The Signal Tech II can be updated, and has a long lasting internal battery that can be charged using the power supply or USB.

GettInG Started
To get started, refer to Quick Start Guide provided with your tool kit.
Note: Please charge your new tool for a minimum of 6 hours prior to using it. The Signal Tech II ships from the factory with a full battery charge, but it is recommended for use that the operator charge the tool first.
Note: The Signal Tech II can be charged by using the provided wall AC adaptor, or by connecting the tool by using the provided USB cable to a PC or Laptop.

charGInG
The Signal Tech II can be charged by using the power supply that is included with the kit. Simply plug the power supply into the MINI USB port and a standard 110 volt outlet.
The Signal Tech II will also charge while connected by thesuppliedUSBcabletoaPCorLaptop.
Please note the battery indicator on the tool screen and charge the tool when the indicator is low or begins to flash.
Before using you Signal Tech II, please charge the tool for a minimum of 6 hours.
Note: Only use the provide Wall AC adaptor or standard Mini-USB Cable as shown. Using other sources to charge your tool may result in damage to the tool.

4. You will now show the Model displayed at the top of the Screen and will be given a choice of years to select. Scroll using the uP or doWnArrowkeys until the year is highlighted and press oK.

TheSignalTechIIactivatesallfourSensors,capturestheSensorIDsthenwritestheSensorIDsdirectlytotheControlUnit,unlikeCIIIthatplacesthevehiclein“Learn”modeand“Listens”fortheSensorIDsastheyareactivatedbyJ-45295ValveActivationtool.Thevehicle’santennathenreceivestheSensorIDsandtheyarewrittentotheControlUnit.

5.Thescreenofthetoolwillnowpromptyou“Presstool againstLFtireandpressOKtoactivate”.
a. Hold the Signal Tech II on the Tire, along side of the Wheel, where the Valve Stem is located. (Do not hold on the wheel, as this can effect the performance of the tool)
b. Withthetoolheldata0to15degreeangletothe tire, press and release the oK button to activate the sensor as shown below. You will need to hold the tool steady until the test is completed. The Screenwillshow“SearchforSchr.TPM”and willshowSearchingData.AStatusBarwillcycle across the bottom of the screen.
c. Asyouactivatethesensors,thetoolwilldisplay pressure at each wheel location and auto cycle you to the next on a successful read. The tool will give an audible sequence of beeps.
d. The Tool will Prompt for 3 attempts for a successfulreadbeforedisplayingaNOTPM FOUNDmessage,andindicatingassowith an X as shown below. The tool will also give oneaudiblebeep.ContinuetotheOBD communicationstoconfirmDTCs.Ifasensor isnotcommunicating,acorrespondingDTC should be stored.
e. If the Incorrect TPM sensor type is found by the tool, the Signal Tech II will indicate the situation with a ? at that wheel position as shown. The tool will also give 3 audible beeps to indicate wrong sensor type._Ensure that the correct sensorisinstalled.ContinuetotheOBD communicationstoconfirmDTCs.Ifthe sensor type is incorrect, a corresponding DTCshouldbestored.
Note: If an ‘X’ or ‘?’ appears, the DTCs can still be read but the ID registration will not complete.
7.Onceall4positionsareactivated,thetoolwill scroll to the con obd box.
a. Ifyouhaven’tdonesoalready,connectthe OBDcabletothebaseofthetoolatthe DB15connection.
b. ConnecttheOBDcabletotheportonthevehicle andturntheignitiontotheONposition

8.Oncethetoolisconnected,thetoolwilldisplaycoMMS, press oK to continue
a. If you are connected, and the display does not change, disconnect and try again. ThisfeatureisdetectingpowerontheDLCandwillnotchangeuntilthereisa goodconnectionandtheignitionisintheOnposition.
9.ThetoolwillconnecttotheBCM(controlunit),readtheVIN,readsensorIDsandcheck forTPMSDTCs.IfDTCsrelatedtoTPMSarefound,thetoolwilldisplaythem.When DTCsaredisplayed,furtherdiagnosismayberequired.If“LowPress”isdisplayed, this indicated that low tire pressure was detected in the past or is currently detected. This is normal operation of the TPMS system. Tire pressures must be verified and corrected accordingly.
DtCs are shown in the actual wheel position as found by the tool. the tool compensates for tire rotations.
a. IfDTCsorLowPressureisstored,theDTCcolumnwilltogglebetweenthecode, code status, and ignition count of the code (when available). The status will be PastorCurrent.Seeexamplebelow.

1. The audit report is meant to record all of the necessary information required to determine if maintenance is required or further diagnosis and repair is needed. It also records the print date and VIN when possible. If a warranty repair is necessary, the report should be kept on file.
CoMMeNtS: It is clear from the above Audit Report that the Left Rear tire was Rotated to the Right Front and the Right Front Tire was Rotated to the Left Rear position.
2.Ifpartreplacementisrequired,thesuspectsensorcanbematchedtotheauditreport.ThesensorIDisdisplayed intwoformatsontheauditfile,HexandDec.ThesensorIDisprintedonthesensoritself.TheIDformatdepends on the sensor manufacturer. Examples are shown below.

Use the following steps to check the Key Test function on Nissan / Infiniti Vehicles (for vehicles equipped)
1.PresstheOn/OffbuttontoturnOntheSignalTechII. The tools screen will populate and defaults to the Main Menu.

Verify that all buttons are transmitting.ComparetheKeyFobtootherknowngoodKeyFobs.RefertotheappropriateESMforadditional diagnostics.

a. If you are connected, and the display does not change, disconnect and try again. This feature is detectingpowerontheDLCandwillnotchange until there is a good connection and the ignition isintheOnposition.

THISWARRANTYISEXPRESSLYLIMITEDTOORIGINALRETAILBUYERSOFBOSCH ELECTRONICDIAGNOSTICTOOLS(“UNITS”).
Bosch Units are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year (12 months) from date of delivery.
