Newsletter Term 3 Week 7 Tuesday 3 September 2019
The children shared their ‘Secret Power’ by dressing up as fantastic book characters. The Carnival Book Fair raised almost $1000, enabling the school to purchase more resources for our library. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful community event.

Notes Home This Fortnight
baraaran HB14 - change of Library day
Regional Athletics Carnival - selected students
A huge thank you to the staff and parents for making Book Week such fun for the students. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces throughout the day. The fun continued with Gala Days for Stage 2 and Stage 3, and a resilience show for everyone else. Resilience is one of our schools core values and it is what helps us cope and get through hard times. Learning to build resilience can help you feel stronger and it can make problems easier to deal with in the future. We all need to keep practising! Tonight the P&C will meet in the library. During this meeting I will share the updated procedures for the selection of school leaders. This information has already been shared with Stage 3 students. I will also be updating parents on the new enrolment policy and procedures. Look forward to seeing you there. NAPLAN results for 2019 have been released but reports for parents will not be available until Week 9. Our students participated in online testing and luckily our sessions went smoothly. This week some students will begin to participate in the ICAS assessments, this too has gone online. Despite a number of difficulties in the lead up to this new process, Mr Hauwert has worked diligently to ensure we are ready, fingers crossed all goes smoothly! Unfortunately, Mrs Boardman continues to be unwell and will not return to work this term. We wish Mrs Boardman a speedy recovery and sincerely thank Mrs Court and Ms Reeves who are keeping Kindergarten on their learning journey.
From the Principal
Janine Hopwood

Congratulations Taryn
In April this year a large number of students from our school completed entries for the “2019 ANZAC School Initiatives” competition run by Koori Kids and supported by local RSL Clubs. It was a colouring competition for Years K-2. Years 3-6 involved story writing on the subject “Why is Anzac Day special to me?”. Taryn D in Year 6 won a prize for a wonderful diary entry about a day in the life of her Pop, during the time he was stationed in Papua New Guinea during World War II. Congratulations Taryn on such a moving piece of writing. Taryn was presented with a medallion by Mr John West, CEO of Club Jervis Bay.
Brilliant at Being Resilient
Students learnt a lot about the value of resilience and tolerance at a show filled with loads of humour. Stories, poetry, fairy tales and illusions were used in an exciting and vibrant presentation.
