STORM ALERT During inclement weather situations like we have here occasion-ally Be aware that Lakeside Rec Hall will be opened by the Ranger on duty if you feel unsafe staying in your Mobile Home or RV or Park Model unit. If you bring your pets they should be in a crate or carrier if possible. Pack a bag with food for you and your pet and anything else for your comfort you need. Remem-ber to pack all medications that are important to you. Also when the summer storms commence it is a good idea to monitor their intensity. If strong winds are predicted be aware that you should police your site for anything that could blow away, and roll in your awning and secure it so as not to cause damage to it in a high wind situation.
Around the Park Here are a few views found around the park during this official start of summer week. Hope you enjoy! Things are green everywhere! Our version of RED, white border and Blue !
In the waterways throughout the park you will see a single fish
guarding a hole it has dug in the pond. These are white crappie fish nests—the females lay anywhere from 5000-60,000 eggs and they hatch in about 3 to 5 days and the process is repeated through April, May, and June… that makes for allot of crappie! Fishing for guests is allowed on Fish Lake only at the high end –picnic area. Only Sanlan guest can fish in designated areas with-out a valid Florida Fishing License. Around the Area

Education Spotlight! - Gator Nesting Season Protocols
From March through June are the main months for alligator
mating here in Florida. Still quite active through early July.
With the warmer temperatures more food is required to
have the energy for traveling around looking for female
gators who tend not to hang out with the boys.
Also larger males may run off younger males or fight with
them over females when they feel dominant. This some-
times means younger males have to find a new pond to
hang out in and maybe on the move allot. Please do not
closely approach any of the Sanlan gators nor allow your
pets off leash anywhere in the park.
These two gators are basking everyday in the sunshine.
The area around the low end of Fish Lake and the
Gator Island sign is their preferred hang out. Look at those
choppers! This behavior allows them to not get to hot. The
air escaping their open mouths cools down their overall
body temp. Thermoregulation is not all just hot air!
