In Science, we've been learning about the weather.
We've become meteorologists and have
been checking the weather each day and recording it. We also learnt about the
water cycle and created our own mini water cycles that
are hanging in our classroom. We were curious to see what would happen and can see condensation and precipitation in them!
We show persistence in writing and use our “Bump It Up Wall” to bump up our writing in order to make it better!
We challenged ourselves and made our own pattern hats in Maths.

From the Principal Dear Parents and Friends of Renmark West,
External Review Thank you to all of the families who helped out with our external review. The process is now complete and a report will be available to the school community in due course.
End of Year School Concert At Governing Council we had a conversation about the end of year school concert which is a very important event in our schools calendar. Unfortunately this year due to COVID we will need to rethink this event. Governing Council had some ideas which we will be following up and there will be some news in the near future about how we will manage a concert in 2020.
PAT Maths and PAT Reading Testing During Week 7 and Week 8 all of our students from
Year 3 to Year 7 will be completing the PAT Maths
and PAT Reading tests. These tests are conducted
every year at this time to measure progress over the
previous 12 months.
The tests are completed online and teachers will be
making time to book their classes into the computer
room to complete the tests.
The PAT results will be published in the final report
at the end of Term 4.
Writing Club Over the past 5 weeks we have been holding Writing
Club three times a week. The students have been
grouped into small groups and work with a teacher
or SSO to develop their writing skills.
This is the final week of writing club. The students
will complete an assessment which will be used to
measure their growth in writing persuasive texts
since Term 1.
Phonics Check During week 7-10 we will also be screening all of our JP students to determine their phonics knowledge. This is a screening that happens annually at this time of year. Information about the phonics check results will be made available to parents at the Term 3 interviews and in the end of year reports.
Tennis Hot Shots On Friday the 21st Friday August, 45 of our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students will attend the Tennis Hot Shots competition which will be held at the Renmark Tennis Courts. Unfortunately parents are not able to attend due to COVID restrictions but we will be sending Mr Barber, Stef and Mrs Tzanavaras to supervise our team. There will be canteen available but students are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks along with them on the day. Students will return to school before the end of the day on Friday.
We hope the team have a great day on Friday.

SAPSASA Football/Netball Carnival Report from Fraser Sampson
On Friday of Week 3, 24 footballers from the four Renmark district primary schools came today to complete against the four other Riverland towns in the annual SAPSASA Football Carnival. The cold, wet and windy conditions didn't stop all students from competing hard all day, with all students using inventive ways to stay warm throughout the day. I would like to thank Beth, Iris and Jason Petersen for their support throughout the day, as well as Ben Dring and Rex Kennedy for braving the cold as goal umpires.
In the first match, an arm wrestle with Barmera ended with Lucas White kicking a match winning goal seconds before the final siren. Lachlan Keynes worked hard up forward to kick three goals and Charlie Goodman and Brett Baker showed great strength to move the ball forward.
Barmera 3.7 25 - Renmark 4.6 30
Goals: Lachlan Keynes 3, Lucas White 1 Best: Charlie Goodman, Brett Baker, Lucas White, Lachlan Keynes
In the second match, Renmark played great team football to run away with a big win against Waikerie. Lucas White was the star of the show kicking 7 goals.
Waikerie 1.0 6 - Renmark 12.12 84
Goals: Lucas White 7, Charlie Goodman 1, Winnie Singh-Abdulla 1, Bradley Schwarz 1, Isaac Waters 1 Best: Lucas White, Isaac Morgan, Henry Dring, Molly Petersen.
We then had the challenge of Berri who had been playing well. A low scoring contest saw Renmark come away with a 16 point win through some great defence and smart football.
Renmark 4.5 29 - Berri 2.1 13
Goals: Lachlan Keynes 1, Oliver Kroemer 1, Alex Schumann 1, Lucas White 1 Best: Charlie Goodman, Lachlan Keynes, Brett Baker, Isaac Morgan
The final match served as a Grand Final as both Renmark and Loxton were undefeated up until this match. With a strong breeze to one end, Loxton started strong to lead 6 goals to 0 at half time. But in the second half, Renmark played their best football of the day, to kick 7 goals to Loxton's 0 in the half. A great team effort and never give up attitude resulted in a great come from behind win.
Loxton 6.3 - Renmark 7.1
Goals: Lucas White 3, Mason Aston 2, Lachlan Keynes 1, Isaac Morgan 1 Best: Lucas White, Molly Petersen, Charlie Goodman, Isaac Morgan, Lachlan Keynes. Fraser Sampson
Report from Peter Saf Netball Carnival finishes early due to near freezing temperatures With near freezing temperatures, it’s no doubt our netballers (and footballers next door) built some resilience and got a taste of what some other regions would see as quite normal, braving the cold and wet conditions, but had a great day of fun and learning!
16 schools from across the Riverland competed in two pools at the Loxton Netball Courts for the 2020 Riverland SAPSASA Netball carnival. It was a pleasure to watch all teams play with great sportsmanship and competitiveness. We had showers throughout the day, but this did not dampen the girls’ spirit or intensity.
Unfortunately, due to the weather, and keeping student safety and wellbeing at the forefront, we had to make the decision to call the carnival off after all teams had played 3 games. From this, the selectors were able to look at a squad of 40 to narrow down to 20 to go on to trial for the state carnival team to play in September.
Results were tightly contested between the top teams, with outcome for both pools being calculated on percentage. The winners for Pool A were St Joseph’s Barmera and Pool B Barmera Primary School.
Best players for each pool as voted by the coaches were
awarded for Pool A to Layla Rothe from Renmark North
Primary School and Pool B to Emily Carter from Cobdogla
Primary School.
CONGRATULATIONS to Lucas, Charlie and Molly for
making the Football squad. Crystal for Netball. Trials
continued last week.
CONGRATULATIONS to Tayte and Chelsea who are a part
of the Riverland District Hockey teams competing in
Adelaide from Monday 24/8 to Wednesday 26/8.
