Dear Parents and Friends
It’s difficult to believe we are in the second
last week of school and the 2016 learning
opportunities are coming to an end.
Presentation Day:
On Wednesday we were proud to host our
2016 Presentation Day ceremony. It is an
opportunity to celebrate and recognise the
achievements of each and every student
who attends HRCS. We were fortunate to
have Maitland Mayor Peter Blackmore, East
Maitland Bowling and Golf Club Director
Clarrie Coutts, Hon Member for Paterson
Meryl Swanson’s representative Kim Pagan,
Hon. Member of Parliament Jenny
Aitchison’s representative Leeca Higgins,
P&C executive and Elders from Mindaribba
amongst our official guests. It was
wonderful to see so many family and friends
join us for the special occasion.
During the proceedings the 2017 school
leadership team was announced. They are:
School Captains
Murad Khan & Claire Hartas-Berry
Prefects
Emma McDonald, Alyssa Clarke
Sophie Mills , Jesse Jones
House Captains
Callum Appleton & Kai Poon
Congratulations everyone! I know you are
going to be wonderful ambassadors for our
school.
We also officially farewelled our Class of
2016. There was a lot of mixed emotions as
our wonderful graduates were presented with
their Year 12 shirts, cut the graduation cake
and were clapped out of the assembly for the
final time. We would like to wish Katie, Dylan
& Leticia all the very best for the next
exciting stage of their lives. It has been a
pleasure to be a part of their journey.
2016 School reports:
It has been a pleasure to read the final
drafts of student’s school reports. It is
evident that all students have made
wonderful progress in a variety of areas.
School reports will be sent home next week.
Medication:
All additional medication will be sent home on
Friday 16th December. If you would like to
collect the medication personally, please
advise your child’s teacher.
Year 12 Day
“Year 12 Day” will be held on Friday 16th
December. Parents and friends of our Year 12
students are invited to come along and join in
the chicken and “champagne” breakfast, shirt
signing and school assembly. Year 11 and 12
students will then leave to attend lunch at
East Maitland Bowling Club.
2
On arrival back at school, there will be
student v staff water fight. If you would like
to attend, please contact the school. Looking
forward to a wonderful day!!
Numeracy Information Sessions:
This week staff hosted 2 interactive
information sessions for parents, friends and
community members focusing on “how we
teach numeracy to young people with complex
needs”. The sessions encouraged
participants to think about mathematics in a
“real life” context and to think about how
those skills can be integrated into the daily
experiences of our students. I would like to
thank the teaching staff for all their hard
work in coordinating the presentations: your
efforts are greatly appreciated.
Have a great week
Tracey
