History of Agriculture in Kamloops and Region
Kamloops has been a self-sufficient food producer since the 1880s with the introduction of the railways and the ability to ship local products to markets
this way (Community Futures Development Corporation of Thompson Country, 2001). Agriculture has been an important livelihood and economic
sector in and around Kamloops since this time. The following timeline is a snapshot of some of the key agricultural milestones and events taking place
in Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Valley over time.
