Founded in 1897, Interbank is one of Peru’s largest and most
renowned financial institutions.
It has more than 230 branches and operates the country’s
main ATM network through its brand, Global Net, with over
1,600 ATMs nationwide.
Employing over 6,000 employees, its assets exceed US$7,000
million.
In keeping with its corporate strategy of “Time is worth more
than money,” Interbank Peru is committed to investing in
the technology it offers, in order to deliver the best customer
experience possible through the most innovative, state-of-the-
art solutions.
One of Interbank Peru’s primary goals is to provide world-
leading and innovative banking solutions to its loyal and ever-
increasing customer base.
To achieve this, it was looking for a cash dispense ATM to
expand its network as simply, quickly and as cost-effectively as
possible. Ease of integration and a low total cost of ownership
were therefore essential.
With over 70% of Interbank’s ATM network being situated
off-premise in locations as varied as supermarkets and gas
stations, square footage was at a premium, so the footprint
that any proposed ATM would take up was seen as a deciding
factor.
The design of the ATM was also crucial: to maximize visibility
in off-premise locations and to attract as many customers as
possible, while delivering clear, concise on-screen graphics.
Ease of use for customers was a fundamental requirement.
The Bank wanted to ensure that its customers had the same
ATM features available to them together with a design that
would prove intuitive and user-friendly.
Reliability, security and availability were vital too. Interbank
strived not only to maintain the high standards it was already
offering across its network, but also to further its reputation
as one of Peru’s leading banks—aiding brand loyalty and
ensuring it stands out from its competitors by delivering the
most state-of-the-art and market-leading technology.

With knowledge of NCR’s market-leading experience of
customer interactions, Interbank Peru chose the NCR SelfServ
22e as the ATM to meet its exacting requirements.
Following this, a one-month trial was undertaken in October
2010, which proved an outstanding success. As a result,
more than 70 SelfServ 22e ATMs have been integrated into
the Bank’s network to date, with a substantial number of
additional machines on order.
The SelfServ 22e is one of NCR’s most cost-efficient, bank-
grade cash dispense solutions, and it is ideally suited to any
indoor placement, whether in-branch or off-premise.
Capable of handling high transaction volumes, it is an
extremely compact ATM with a small footprint, allowing
Interbank Peru maximum placement flexibility.
The high-energy efficiency of the SelfServ 22e also drives
down the total cost of ownership. With less cabling, LED
lighting and a 50% reduction in energy consumption (thanks
to its unique processor architecture), it is one of the most
energy-efficient ATMs available on the market today.
In addition, it is the only ATM to offer a protected USB
architecture and a recessed PIN pad for additional PIN security,
increasing customer satisfaction.
Ultimately, by adopting the SelfServ 22e as its ATM of choice,
Interbank achieved a low-cost, high-performance solution—
enhancing its brand image while maintaining its already-
established network credentials.
Within just one week, the SelfServ 22e was fully integrated
into the Bank’s network and proved an immediate success, not
only for Interbank, but also for its customers.
Transactions across the Bank’s ATMs now stand at over 130,000
per month on the SelfServ 22e alone. Of these, 65% are being
undertaken at off-premise locations, with the SelfServ 22e’s
high-volume capability and high performance driving down
costs while maximizing returns.
The compact footprint of the SelfServ 22e gave Interbank
maximum deployment flexibility as space restrictions were
minimized, letting the Bank place the ATMs at locations most
beneficial to its customers.
Promoting the new machines through social media, TV and
radio advertising as well as across ATM locators to maximize
uptake has resulted in excellent initial feedback. Customers
love the fact that the SelfServ 22e offers all the features and
functionality of other SelfServ ATMs yet is incredibly easy to
use—thanks to the ATM’s intuitive design, Media Entry and
Exit Indicators (MEEI) and outstanding screen graphics.
The SelfServ 22e gives customers unrivaled reassurance that
transactions are highly secure as it incorporates NCR’s unique
protected USB architecture and an extensive range of anti-
fraud and physical security solutions.
All of these factors are helping to enhance Interbank’s brand,
its presence and to further brand loyalty from both new and
existing customers.
Since its implementation, the Bank has also experienced
significant cost savings with the SelfServ 22e, including lower
running and maintenance costs, all helping Interbank’s profit-
generation.
As the Bank looks to further extend its ATM network to new
locations such as within drugstores and pharmacies, the
success of the SelfServ 22e will ensure it plays a key role in
achieving Interbank’s aggressive growth forecasts.
Without doubt, the NCR SelfServ 22e has far exceeded the
objectives that Interbank sought to achieve—ensuring it
continues to deliver to its customers the services they want,
