Innovation is a word that always stirs excitement and curiosity in everyone. The tech industry has been at the
forefront of innovation rapidly disrupting Industries at scale and yet delivering significant value to both consumers
and businesses. The Innovation journey in India has also been on a surge with the number of unicorns and startup
ecosystem expanding and maturing in recent years. Recent months have only accelerated the transformation and
opportunity landscape for innovative ideas to emerge and flourish. All research points to the fact that the best time
to incubate a startup or an innovative idea within an enterprise is during a crisis.
Open innovation recently has expanded the horizon of startup engagements within the Indian ecosystem. Thanks to NIPP and NASSCOM the
diaspora has developed a cogent framework to bring enterprises with use cases and startups with solutions together. Although we initially saw
a slow movement due to the global nature and navigational challenges of enterprises we now see a wide range of success stories of partnerships
that have delivered value. We at Fidelity too have benefited with our close partnership with NIPP and their cohorts where we have learned many
new disciplines as well as partnered to solve our challenges.
The next decade will see more new operating models of Open innovation, from startups being incubated within enterprises to accelerators being
setup by Enterprises to JVs, Build - Operate - Transfer to IP partnerships in the ecosystem. I am quite confident that the best days ahead for the
ecosystem. We will look forward to this exciting journey and we all have an enviable position in the front seat of this journey as it unfolds.
Buckle your seats and lets ride this spaceship to new heights!

NIPP in partnership with HERE Technologies organised a webinar series exclusively for Computer Science and Engineering students. The aim of the series was to
encourage entrepreneurship and key coding skills within the student community and also equip them with the required competences and tools. Students were
also given access to HERE Technologies’ developer services on a freemium model (click here to view), through which they could access rich data and platform
services, including maps, geo-coding, geo-fencing, intermodal routing, as well as advanced features such as turn-by-turn navigation and custom route and
waypoint and fleet API. More than 350 students actively participated in the 3-series webinar which included quizzes and mini-projects to ensure practical
application of learnings and they also received certificates. The sessions have created a keen interest in entrepreneurship and coding among an enthusiastic
community of students and more such sessions are being planned to further develop their skills.
