High Definition
In order for something to be true HD, it must have a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Must be a widescreen
format incorporation a
16:9 aspect ratio.
Must have a resolution of at
least 1280 pixels x 720 pixels.
Must have a frame rate
between 24 and 30 frames per
second.

High Resolution is a more nebulous term and can refer to any display with a resolution that is sharp and finely
detailed.
