MANOR LAKES P12 COLLEGEE-LEARNING INTEGRATION CAPABILITIES
Through encouraging 21st Century Teaching and Learning practices, staff and students at Manor Lakes P-12 College will develop key technology integration skills to support all teaching and learning programs.
As a College we have developed 5 key Technology Integration Capabilities that align with the Australian Curriculum to assist all staff and students in utilising the high end technology that is available to support learning.
INTRODUCTION
ELEARNING & THE AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM
• “ICT capability supports and enhances student learning across all areas of the curriculum. Students develop and apply ICT knowledge, skills and appropriate social and ethical protocols and practices to investigate, create and communicate, as well as developing their ability to manage and operate ICT to meet their learning needs. Learning areas provide the content and contexts within which students develop and apply the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that comprise ICT capability.”

CAPTURE
With the worlds information at their finger tips, we are wanting students to have full and complete access to what is available online. We are wanting students to capture the necessary digital literacies and media they require from rich, relevant and reliable sources.
We want our student to be able to;
- Find relevant information quickly from multiple, reliable sources located on the world wide web.
- Share and collaborate on digital documents, various digital texts and electronic notifications.
- Locate still and moving image in the form of photo, animation, film and video from a multitude of sources.
- Use college selected ‘must have’ applications to support information gathering and annotation.
CREATEUsing the devices, online tools and applications that are available, students are able to create high quality, purposeful pieces of work to demonstrate learning outcomes and understandings.
Everything from digitally created presentations and applications to video game development allows students to differentiate their learning and showcase their preferred learning styles.
We want our student to be able to;
- Present and reflect on the understandings gained from set class work via electronic means.
- Use a wide variety of applications and online tools to plan, map, and record their learning journey through creative processes.
- Direct and personalise their learning through being resourceful and creative in finding their own applications to use that best suit their needs for a given task.
COMMUNICATE
We are now living and working in environments which are connected and collaborative. Because of this, we are wanting students to communicate with their peers, teachers, parents and the wider community on a regular basis.
Also, with having access to the internet, students have the capability to connect with experts outside of the community to enhance their learning further and build on prior knowledge.
Through the use of online storage spaces and the ‘cloud’, students have complete access to a wide variety of effective electronic communications.
We want our student to be able to;
- Present and communicate their learning in a variety of ways that demonstrates met learning outcomes. This will be done via presentation creation and sharing, podcast development, LMS’s, social media, and cloud based work storage solutions.
COLLABORATE
The use of online learning spaces now enables students, staff and parents to connect, communicate and collaborate anywhere, anytime. Learning has never before been so accessible to students in allowing them to connect and work with others in a virtual environment.
With the integration and use of online learning environments such as Edmodo, Schoology, Moodle, etc... learning along side peers is no longer restricted to the classroom. Students can connect online and collaborate on group projects and tasks at anytime allowing for maximum collaboration.
We want our students to be able to;
- Use the online tools available to them to promote collaboration such as the use of their College GAFE (Google App’s for Education) account.
- The sharing of all file types online to ensure high quality information is passed on and shared for learning and teaching purposes. This can be done via tools such as Dropbox or Box.
CONNECTAt Manor Lakes P-12 College we are wanting our students to develop the 21st Century Skills needed to be successful in their learning journeys.
The ability for students to connect in online spaces with peers, staff and the global community give them the opportunity to develop rich and powerful relationships that are professional and that enhance learning.
Current work skills expected of our students are constantly evolving and it is because of this we as a College and Community need to foster and embrace this evolution.
We want our student to be able to;
- access social media, collaborate online, engage with, share and develop high quality documentation.
- Connect with peers and teachers in online settings to collaborate and communicate to engage in learning practices.
- Model effective digital practices and be leaders in the use of ICT.

Effective Technology Integration: The
Research
“We posit that when schools, like all other organisations before them, move to a fully digital operational base - where all the teachers use the digital technology naturally in their everyday teaching - they will forever evolve and change, and will do so at an ever greater pace.
The corollary is that schools that don't move to that full digital operational base will remain basically the same, in equilibrium with the associated consequences.”

Or…For a school to
evolve and grow, technology
integration must occur, effectively, or it will get left

Over To You…

• Add a sticky note to the Padlet Wall demonstrating how YOU have used technology to support your teaching and learning programs. This can include of course all forms of technology…
• Try to add as many examples as you can think of… :)
Sparse
Technology is rarely used or available. Students
rarely use technology to complete assignments or
projects.
Basic
Technology is used or available occasionally/often
in a lab rather than the classroom. Students are
comfortable with one or two tools and sometimes
use these tools to create projects that show
understanding of content.
Comfortable
Technology is used in the classroom on a fairly
regular basis. Students are comfortable with a
variety of tools and often use these tools to create
projects that show understanding of content.
Seamless
Students employ technology daily in the classroom
using a variety of tools to complete assignments
and create projects that show a deep
understanding of content.
