Guest Artist Nik Allen returns to weave themagic of this favorite story ballet asDrosselmeier, a beloved uncle to Clara.Drosselmeier presents Clara with an odd butenchanting Nutcracker Doll at the family’sChristmas Eve Party. When the party ends,Clara falls asleep in front of the Christmas treewith the wooden Nutcracker cradled in herarms. In her vivid dreams Clara witnesses abattle between the Mouse King and her life-sizeNutcracker and his soldiers. The Nutcracker es-corts her through a swirling winter wonderlandto the Land of the Sweets where all the confec-tions dance for her delight.
MWPAI Dance Program is pleased to welcome new guestartists who will perform alongside our students: freelancedancers Andres Neira, originally from Cali, Colombia will ap-pear as the Cavalier with the Sugar Plum Fairy and young pro-fessional; Jean-Pierre Lemire will appear as the Snow King.Our graduating seniors, Colleen Ashmore, Tatyana Carrillo, Is-abella Fulop, Rachel Petrie and Emma Zulch will share leadingroles with fellow dancers Olivia Aceto, Madison Cook, Kather-ine Elacqua, Chloe Ford, Juliana Fulop, Allison Swider, SamaraVallieres, and Sara Zarnoch. Maria Mandronico and Ailing Gar-land-Johnson will share the role of Clara opposite Noah Priceand Benton Stivali as her mischievous brother Fritz.

Fountain Elms Closed for JanuaryThe Museum of Art galleries in Fountain Elms will be closed tothe public January 6 through February 3. During this time, theperiod room settings receive a thorough cleaning and othermaintenance programs that would disrupt daily operations. The galleries and period rooms will reopen February 4.
Clare Fitzgerald has joinedthe MWPAI staff as theMuseum Education Coordi-
nator. Clare is working with theMuseum Education Departmentteam on advancing the docentprogram and developing the 21stCentury school and public tourprograms.
Clare is a Utica native who re-ceived her B.A. in Fine Arts andPolitics from New York University.In May of this year she completedher Ph.D. in Art History at EmoryUniversity in Atlanta. Clare is pas-sionate and committed to working and teaching with objects, saying, "I be-lieve in the role of the museum in society as a place of education andinclusion. I am interested in finding ways to make the museum and the ob-jects it houses more accessible to a larger audience, and I appreciateMWPAI's ongoing commitment to this goal." With her curatorial experienceat the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Metropolitan Museum; andmuseum education experience at the Brooklyn Museum and the Michael C.Carlos Museum at Emory University, we look forward to the practical andscholarly knowledge Clare brings, along with her energy and passion formuseum work. She will help the Museum Education Department positionthe Museum as a focal point for community members and as a destinationfor visitors.
Clare lives in New Hartford with her husband, Trent Brunson.
