These 40 pages contain a se-lection of portraits and photo reportages that were pub-lished in Subbacultcha! Maga-zine between May 2011 and May 2012.

Subbacultcha! Magazine is a free pocket-sized music pub-lication from Amsterdam. The magazine is renowned for the personal style with which it portrays progressive, excit-ing underground acts. Young, up-and-coming independent photographers are assigned to portray musicians with an artis-tic aesthetic and a strong per-sonal focus.

With this publication we pay tribute to both the photogra-phers and the musicians we work with. Together they’ve created wonderful autono-mous images that are a far cry from standard band photog-raphy and offer a sensitive, personal and unique view into today’s international alternative music scene.
