SYDNEY FC surged to thirdon the A-League table after a2-0 win over a diabolical Mel-bourne Heart at AAMI Parklast night.

The result heaps pressureon Heart boss John Aloisi, whose side remain bottom ofthe table and without a winsince February.

For the second straightweek, the hosts went behindin the 27th minute, and neverlooked likely to recover as theSky Blues kept a clean sheetaway from home for the firsttime in 22 games.

The opener came after chieftormentor Joel Chianese wasbrought down in the box byRob Wielaert and refereeAlan Milliner wasted no timein pointing to the spot.

Alessandro Del Piero madeHeart pay the penalty, send-ing Andrew Redmayne thewrong way.

Chianese added his nameon the scoresheet just beforehalftime when he ghosted

into the penalty area and tap-ped home Ali Abbas’s lowcross at the back post.

The Heart players werebooed off by their fans at thebreak, but it could have beenso different with MichaelMifsud wasting a gloriouschance to break Heart’s longgoal drought after 14 minutes.

Played onside by BrettEmerton, Mifsud had justVedran Janjetovic to beat, buthe blasted his effort straightat the advancing goalkeeper.

But from that point in thegame the Heart were sub-jected to attack after attack,

with Redmayne makingsmart saves to deny Chianeseand Nicky Carle, while DelPiero and Chris Naumoff alsowent close.

Sydney continued to domi-nate after the break and asecond successive victorynever looked in doubt as theHeart struggled to mount anydecent attack.

Chianese missed a sitterfrom five metres on the hourmark while Aziz Behich gotaway with a clear handball inthe area while trying to con-trol a high ball. Aloisi wasbrutal in assessing his team’sperformance.

‘‘The performance wasn’tgood enough. Not accept-able,’’ he said.

‘‘We started badly, lookednervy . . . the second half wepushed but still we weren’tgood enough tonight.’’

Sydney FC coach FrankFarina toasted his team’s ef-fort, winners for the secondweek in a row.
