FeaturesThe 33 series ball valve is compact and handles high pressure in a one-quarter turn design. The 33 series features a unique bolt-ed body plus a blow-out proof stem and ball, providing safety and reliability.
� Use in high-pressure service may degrade subsequentseat sealing performance in low-pressure service.
Testing Every 33 series valve is factory tested with nitrogen at 1000 psig (68.9 bar). Seats have a maximum allowable leak rate of0.1 cm3/min. Shell testing is performed to a requirement of no detectable leakage with a liquid leak detector.

Switching (3-Way) ValveAll stainless steel switching ball valves incorporate many of the features of the on-off (2-way) design. The one-piece centerbody uses no welding and allows 180° actuation. Theswitching design allows the user to:■ divert flow from a common inlet to one of two outlets■ block flow from one inlet port and bleed out the opposite port.
Flexing seat design ensures leaktight seal in both low-and high-pressure systems
Under low pressure, seals are created by the coned discspring-loaded seats pushing against the ball. Pressure is not required to create a seal.
Under high pressure, the ball is forced downstream, flexing thedownstream seat and creating a seal. The upstream seat alsoflexes with the ball movement and maintains a seal.

C60V series ball valves are capped and sealed individually in desiccant packaging and are tagged for chlorine service.
TestingEvery chlorine series valve is factory tested with nitrogen at300 psig (20.6 bar). Seats have a maximum allowable leakrate of 0.04 std cm3/min.
Shell testing with gas at 300 psig (20.6 bar) is performed on62, 63, and 65 chlorine series valves.
Shell testing with gas at 1.5 times the maximum workingpressure is performed on 67 and 68 chlorine series valves.

➀ Fire series ball valves are assembled to a fail-safe pneumatic actuator that contains a Swagelok fusible plug and a Swagelok mud-dauber fitting. The fusible plug melts if the external temperature reaches 280°F (137°C), relieving pressure in the actuator and allowingthe valve to cycle closed.

TestingEvery Swagelok trunnion ball valve is factory tested withnitrogen at 1000 psig (68.9 bar). Seats have a maximumallowable leak rate of 0.1 std cm3/min. Shell testing isperformed to a requirement of no detectable leakage witha liquid leak detector.

Pneumatic Actuator Kits
To order pneumatic actuator kits to retrofit existing Swagelok trunnion ball valves:1. Start with MS-1.2. Add the desired actuator model designator, omitting
the dash.Example: MS-131.
3. Add -DA for double acting or -SR for spring return.Example: MS-131-DA.
The mounting kit must be ordered separately; select theappropriate mounting kit ordering number. Dualassemblies require two mounting kits.
83 Series and H83 SeriesLow-Temperature ServiceTrunnion ball valves for low-temperature service, with atemperature rating of –40 to 200°F (–40 to 93°C), areavailable. Low-temperature valves have low-temperatureBuna O-rings. All other materials and ratings are the sameas those of standard valves.To order a valve for low-temperature service, insertdesignator L before the series designator in the valveordering number.Example: SS-L83KF2; SS-LH83PF2.Contact your Swagelok representative for informationabout valves for service down to –65°F (–53°C).

Upstream (UV) VentWhen an upstream-vented valve is closed, full shutoffoccurs at the downstream seat. Upstream system mediapasses through the vent hole in the ball trunnion andvents to atmosphere through the bottom of the trunnion.To order, insert designator DV (downstream) or UV(upstream) immediately after the seat material designatorin the valve ordering number.Examples: SS-83KDVF2; SS-83KUVF2.

Options83 Series Vent OptionsA downstream or upstream ball vent is available in 83series 2-way valves. The vent port in the ball does notintersect the main flow passage, ensuring no leakage ofsystem media from the vent port. When the valve is open,flow is straight through. The pressure rating with a ballvent is reduced to 500 psig (34.4 bar).
Downstream (DV) VentWhen a downstream-vented valve is closed, full shutoffoccurs at the upstream seat. Downstream system mediapasses through the vent hole in the ball trunnion andvents to atmosphere through the bottom of the trunnion.
