Mr. Clarence Ross Bow-man, 99, died Monday, April21, 2014, at AmbassadorHealth and Rehab. Funeral services will beheld at 3 p.m. on Wednes-day, April 23, 2014, atBethel United MethodistChurch with Rev. StephenShytle and Rev. Phillip Par-rish officiating. Intermentwill follow in Bethel Ceme-tery. Clarence was born Sep-tember 18, 1914, in AnsonCounty, a son of the lateJohn Robinson and FannieMay Flake Bowman. Hewas a life-long member ofBethel United MethodistChurch and farmer in theBethel Community. He alsoworked and retired fromWest Knitting Mills. He was preceded in deathby his first wife, Ellie BakerBowman, a daughter, LoisEddins and his sisters andbrother, Annie BeckWilliams, Elsie Smith, HattieHarris, Johnsie Ratliff,Gladys Bowman, FannieGrace Lowery and Flake“Bud” Bowman. In 1996 he married Ar-lene Martin, who survivesalong with her children;Vickie Martin of Indialantic,FL and Darrell (Karen) Mar-tin of Peachland; his chil-dren, Janice (Lawrence)Blalock, Grace (William) Os-born and Billy Baker, all ofWadesboro; his grandchil-dren, Kim Threadgill, TimBlalock, Tina Pope, Leah

Powell, Flint Osborn, Mered-ith Rape, Debbie Eddins, RayEddins, Max, Mason and MiaMartin; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces,nephews and their families. Mr. Jesse Clement Mullis,71, passed from this life andinto his heavenly home onApril 20, 2014, at AnsonCommunity Hospital. Graveside services will beheld at 1 p.m. on Wednes-day, April 23, 2014, atPeachland Cemetery. Visita-tion will follow the service. A native of Peachland, hewas the youngest child of thelate Theron Lamar Mullis, Sr.and Viola Deese Mullis.Jesse was a retired finishingcarpenter. He was a mem-ber of Peachland BaptistChurch. Mr. Mullis was precededin death by an infant son andbrothers, Theron LamarMullis, Jr., Warren Mullis,Roland Mullis and GeorgeMullis and two sisters,Josephine Deese and MarthaWilliams. Survivors include hisbeloved wife of 52 years,Phyllis Mullis; sisters PeggyGarris of Peachland andLinda Allen of Lancaster,SC; as well as several nieces,nephews and cousins. Mrs. Shirley HarringtonPigg, 74, died Thursday,April 17, 2014, in the Harris

Hospice Unit of Presbyte-rian Hospital in Charlotte. Funeral services wereheld on Monday, April 21,2014, at Leavitt FuneralHome with Rev. JerryPhillips officiating. Inter-ment followed in BennettGrove Cemetery in Polk-ton. Mrs. Pigg was a lovingwife, mother, grandmother,and great-grandmotherwho will be greatly missedby her family and friends. She was born in AnsonCounty on October 28,1939, a daughter of thelate William Ellis and WillieHasty Harrington. Shegraduated from PolktonHigh School where shewas valedictorian of herclass and active in sports,including basketball andcheerleading. In addition to her par-ents, Shirley was precededin death by brothers andsisters, Ruby Nash, EddHarrington, Claria Davis,Jack Harrington and Car-son Harrington. Survivors include herhusband of 56 years,Robert “Bob” Pigg of thehome; two sons, Russell(Janette) and Tim (Alice),all of Charlotte; four grand-children, Genna, Lindsey,Mallory and Megan; threegreat-grandchildren, Kayla,Kenzie and Addison; twosisters, Peg Edwards ofCharlotte and Betty RoseTaylor of Wadesboro; anda brother, Frank Harring-ton of Charlotte. The family wishes tothank the Harris HospiceUnit for their loving care inShirley’s last days. And, ahuge thank you to Dr.Robert S. Iwaoka and Dr.Iveta S. Swaim for theirmany years of outstandingcare.
