Is it a pothole or a swimming hole?We call it pothole season. Thing is, seems pothole season knows no season. Besides grumbling, what can you do about those nasty pavement pimples?Call Montreal’s hotline at 311. Tell them the exact location of the nid-de-poule. If the hole hasn’t been fixed within a week, call again.Fill out a CAA-Québec online form (http://bit.ly/LAp7TT). The CAA will let the municipality know about it within 48 hours.According to montreal.about.com, the city is obligated to fill the hole quickly. If a pothole causes damage to your vehicle after it has been reported to the city, you might be able to claim damages.

Our magnificent city was founded in 1642, yet its history goes centuries beyond that. At its founda-tion—foundations.
Twenty years ago, on the city’s 350th birthday, the Pointe à Calliere Museum opened its doors on the site at which the city’s founding mass had taken place. The museum is built upon those very foundations, protect-ing them while allowing the public access to the cool, stony reality of a Montreal-that-was.
“Rising above evidence of more than 1,000 years of human activity, it houses remarkable architectural re-mains, displayed in situ with absolute respect for their integrity,” the museum website says.
Wander through rooms carefully furnished with arti-facts discovered right there, back in the ’80s, then de-scend into the archeological crypt for the permanent exhibition Where Montréal Was Born.
There are 20 ways to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the museum including events that look toward our future, such as choosing the best online symbol to rep-resent Montreal.

Serenity, music in the heart of the cityThere are no hard
edges in Bourgie Hall. From the Tiffany
stained-glass windows to the twisted decora-tive grillwork to the elegantly curved bal-cony, the music hall has been designed to instill a sense a peace. Even the chairs on the main level, wide and comfortable, have rounded armrests.
You can hear someone whispering two rows away, but the sound is muffled and not at all distracting during a performance. And performances there will be.
Concert series include the Tiffany Concerts, Musical 5 à 7, Consonance and Dissonance and spotlights on French and Latin American music. As well, the 444-seat Bourgie Hall offers dozens of free lectures and films.
The Victorian building began life in 1894 when the Er-skine and American Church moved from Peel and Ste. Catherine, now the site of the Dominion Square build-ing. Deconsecrated in 2004 and acquired by the Mon-treal Museum of Fine Arts in 2008, the national historic site boasts a rare-to-Montrealers Byzantine-style dome.
It is linked to the Jean-Noël Desmarais Pavilion of the MMFA by an underground gallery.
Beginning in September, Bourgie Hall will be open to visitors wishing to view the windows and architecture on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. There is no charge.

Wilderness and wildlife in MontrealThe tip of Montreal Island was a massive landfill until
the luscious wetland near Pointe Claire was taken under the protective wing of the St. Lawrence Valley Natural History Society and restored to its original beauty.
Those once-garbage-filled 11 hectares are now home to more than 115 species native to Quebec, and the pub-lic is invited to wander carefully tended paths to meet the animals.
The award-winning Ecomuseum is a private, non-profit organization with a mandate to protect Quebec’s wildlife and flora and educate the public. The zoo is ac-tive in field research and conservation programs.

How you can help! With your generosity, Generations Foundation is able to provide breakfast, lunch and snack programs for approximately 6,700 undernourished school children. We also send hundreds of children to summer camp in the country. Can we count on your support? – Adrian Bercovici, Executive Director
