Moore Norman Technology Center is proud to present its 19th annual
SUMMER YOUTH ACADEMY!SYA is an exciting program that promotes fun learning opportunities for youth ages 9-14.
nAll classes are held at the Franklin Road Campus
in Norman.nSupervision is provided only from 8:50 a.m. 4:10 p.m.
(Late policy will be strictly enforced.)
nDaily snacks are provided. If your student has an allergy
or requires gluten-free, please send a snack.
nLunch is chaperoned for students attending both
morning and afternoon sessions. Students may bringtheir lunch or use MNTCs cafeteria service. Lunch may
be purchased for about $5.
nMNTC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
To provide the best enrollment experience for all families, we have separated enrollment dates for younger and older
students. Siblings who fall in different age groups must be enrolled separately. We apologize for any inconvenience.
For the best chance to get your student into classes, use our online enrollment process and register with your credit
or debit card. If you log-on early, make sure to refresh often, leading up to 7:30 a.m. Visit:

nEach one-week session meets from either:
9 a.m. - noon or 1 - 4 p.m.
Monday through Thursday
nSessions are offered June 2 through June 26.
nEach half-day session is $75.
nFull-day Camps:CSI, and MED Camps are $140. Students are in class
from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with a chaperoned lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.
nRefund Policy:Full refunds are given until the end of the first day of the session
in which your child is enrolled. It is an MNTC policy to charge a $5 processing feefor each requested refund.

nParents will drop-off and pick-up at two locations this year. Most parents
will useGate 3then line their cars along the circle drive ofEntrance B.When the circle drive is filled, cars will be redirected to line-up along the
west side parking drive of the campus Main Building.
nParents whose students are enrolled in the following classes will enter
Gate 1off of Franklin Road, and line their cars in front of the Health
Building: 3D Art, Carpentry, Create It & Show It Off, CSI Camp, Graphic
Design, Med Camp, Movie Making I & II, Paper Crafts, and Robotics I & II.
nParents who are transporting multiple students in various classes may choose
either location. Students not dropped off at their assigned location will be
escorted to their classes. Likewise, students may be picked up together
wherever they were dropped off. Make sure to communicate with your
students which location you will use for pick-up.

Acting OutLearn the basics of drama and the theatre in this funcourse. Hands on activities include state make up,
costumes, acting methods and stage designs.
Band ItJewelry isnt just for girls. Learn how to make thelatest bands for guys.
Basic PhotographyDo you enjoy taking pictures? If so, learn techniquesthat will make yours look like a pro took them!Students must provide their own device for takingpictures (camera, iPad, phone, etc.)
Beaded BandsStudents will be taught how to design and createa variety of bracelets with beads sewn betweenleather cords. These bracelets are great for wearingindividually or layered and make great gifts.
Beginning GuitarWant to learn to play the guitar? Bring your ownguitar and join in the fun! (No electric guitars,please.)
Bridge BuildingStudents will build toothpick bridges that makemath meaningful by allowing them to usearithmetic calculations and geometry to design,plan, and build scale model bridges. Working insmall groups, student contractors operate simulatedarchitectural firms to create strong, economicalbridges and account for construction costs.

Graphic DesignStudents learn the basic principles of graphic designand make effective layouts using Photoshop andIllustrator, and then design their own magazinecovers.
Hair RageLearn great hair styling and make-up trends usingprofessional tools from an industry expert.
Interior DesignStudents learn fun design techniques, how tocoordinate colors and create accent pieces to fittheir space.
Intermediate Guitar
Students will learn contemporary and acousticstyles of guitar, how to play chords, read chordcharts, tableture, and some classical finger picking.We do songs of their choice, and of course we sing!
Kids CourtStudents will conduct mock trials in a simulation of
judicial proceedings, that is, the actual enactment ofa trial of either a civil or criminal case. Participationin, and analysis of mock trials, provides studentswith an insiders perspective from which to learnabout courtroom procedures.
Looming BandsStudents will learn various looming techniques tomake different bracelets and shapes with colorfulrubber bands using a loom kit they will get to takehome on the last day.
MED Camp (All Day)Students experience an exciting week designed toexpose them to the fast-paced world of modernmedicine including units covering the major body
systems, types of diseases, the bodys immunesystem, basic First-Aid techniques, and variousmedical careers.
Mesmerizing MagicAbracadabralearn from a professional magicianhow to amaze others as you make things appearand disappear right before their very eyes.
