MITCHELLS ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOL
Newsletter—Term 4, Week 4 2019
Canteen:
Canteen is on this week. This week we will have Vanilla
Marshmallow cupcakes on the menu, thanks Jess for
making them.
Fire Safety Meeting:
On Monday some of our parents attended a meeting
related to the bushfire season. Thank you to those who
attended.
In the meeting, I discussed the procedures for closing the
school in the event of a bushfire. If conditions are
deemed by the RFS as catastrophic, you will be sent a text
message notifying you that the school will be closed the
following day. I ask that you respond promptly to the text
so I know that you have received the message.
During a school day, if you receive a message that we are
seeking shelter, this will indicate that it is too late to
evacuate and we will be sheltering in our fire safe room.
Please do not come to the school to take your child in this
event. If you do come to the school, you will be required
to take shelter with us in lockdown. It is safer for your
child to be in the fire safe room than driving on the road.
When the fire front has passed and it is safe to collect
your child, I will notify you and you can collect your child
from the gate near the tennis court.
Music Performance:
Our concert will start at
6:30pm on Thursday, 14
November. Students will
need to arrive at the hall
between 6pm and
6:15pm. Please bring a
plate to share for supper
eg party pies, sausage rolls, cocktail frankfurts, mini
quiches, sandwiches. On page 4 there is a tear off section,
could you please indicate what you will bring and return
this to school by Monday.
Donations for the Christmas raffle:
We are starting to collect food items or children’s toys for
the Christmas raffle to be drawn at our Presentation
Night. There will be a box in the office for you to put your
donations in. If we start early we should be able to collect
enough items for some great hampers. Items could
include: chips, biscuits, mince pies, chocolates, nuts,
cordial, tinned fruit etc. Children’s toys or books are also
welcomed. We will also be raffling a ham, turkey, meat
tray and fruit tray.
Sesquicentenary:
We have some books, keyrings, glassware and pens left
from the Sesquicentenary. If you would like to purchase
some mementos of our school, please call in to the office.
Our final Sesquicentenary meeting will be held on
Monday, 18th November at 3pm.

18/12/19 Last day of term for Students
Bethany: On the 1st of November the whole school went to Taree Tenpin
Bowling and had lots of fun. We played one game.
Nicola: Last week on Friday, the whole school of M.I.P.S went to Taree Tenpin
Bowling. It was a very fun and exciting day for everyone, we travelled by bus (a
very squeaky bus). On the way there, everyone couldn’t wait until we got there.
I was in the same lane as Hannah, Ashlyn, Bethany and Gracie.
Ashlyn: On November first we went to Taree Tenpin Bowling. We left at
12:30pm and got there at 1:00pm. We had to put smooth shoes on so the shoes
that we were wearing didn’t damage the floor. There were six groups and I was
in a group with Hannah, Gracie, Bethany, and Nicola. We had fun going tenpin
bowling and we will try to beat our scores next time.
Toby: On November the 7th
at
Sydney, I will run with Denver,
Hannah, and Jaydon in the
small school state relay. We did
some training with Roger and
when we finished, I was so
tired.
On the way down I am going
with Denver, his mum, maybe
Jaydon, my mum and of course
Mrs Wilson. It is going to be
awesome.
Ruby: We have been making a
coloured tree. A coloured tree is a
tree that has warm colours on
the inside of the circle and cold
colours on the outside.
We used coloured pencil. In the
tree we are going to do
Zentangles.
