MINE Head of Operations
The Myanmar/Burma Indigenous Network for Education (MINE), is currently made up of 24 education organizations representing 12 Indigenous groups living in remote, often conflict affected areas across Myanmar. MINE has two main roles:
1. To support the provision of locally informed and owned quality education services in Indigenous communities.
2. To advocate for improved access to and quality of relevant basic education for Indigenous children.
MINE’s current project activities include pre-‐service, in service and mobile teacher training, parent education/awareness, and school management capacity building and reach 1621 schools, 5549 teachers, 135237 students and approximately 48000 parents. MINE will soon start a new initiative to bring over 82000 out-‐of-‐school children into school. Position Description: MINE is a growing organization and the Head of Operations will support this growth by leading on organizational development, along with the Director. The Head of Operations will oversee all financial, logistics and administrative aspects of the organization and will drive the development and implementation of strong organizational policies and procedures. The Head of Operations will report to the Project Director. Responsibilities: Financial and Administrative Oversight
• Oversee all aspects of organizational financial management • Ensure production of accurate financial reports to help inform project management and
meet donor requirements. • Effectively manage organization budget and oversee use of organization resources. • Liaise and negotiate with donors around financial and administrative requirements. • Oversee all aspects of project administration including human resources and logistics. • Support large scale procurement of school materials for education assistance project.
Organisational Development • Lead MINE’s organizational development to support its growth. • Direct and supervise the development of organizational systems, policies and procedures.
• Direct recruitment of new staff and development of Human Resources Policy and Procedure.
Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor’s Degree in management, administration, finance, accounting,or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience working with non-‐governmental and community-‐based organizations • Proven success directing and working flexibly, respectfully, and empathetically with people of various backgrounds
• Experience in organizational development including developing systems, policies and procedures.
• Experience managing finances and administration across multiple multi donor projects. • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing political and social situations • Ability to plan, prioritize, and work on various assignments simultaneously • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including in English and Myanmar. Additional Requirements: Flexibile as to hours and location of work. Regular ravel may be required. Salary and Benefits: Local salary commensurate to experience and qualifications.
