Vitra at Milan Design Week 2018
During this year’s Milan Design Week (17–22 April), Vitra will supplement its exhibition stand at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair with a large installation in the former sports arena La Pelota. The exhibition is curated by the designer Robert Stadler.
The exhibition «Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters» is an expansive panorama of projects, products and design studies by Vitra. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the history, present and future of the Swiss furniture company, which views itself as a cultural-commercial project.
In this installation, the perspective of curator Robert Stadler reveals new connections, narrative threads and possible interpretations of «Project Vitra». The installation also puts a focus on contemporary changes in society and their effect on established furniture typologies. A number of designers have been invited to give form to their ideas on this topic.
The Vitra Design Museum will be represented in its own section at La Pelota to reveal new and upcoming projects.
New products by Vitra will be shown at the Salone del Mobile fair site.
