Cells and Ranges
• A cell is a single element in a worksheet that can hold a value, text, or a formula. • A cell is identified by its address consisting of its column letter and row number. For example, cell D12 is the cell in the fourth column and the twelfth row.
• A group of cells is called a range. You designate a range address by specifying its upper-left cell address and its lower-right cell address, separated by a colon.
For examples of range addresses:
C24 A range that consists of a single cell.A1:B1 Two cells that occupy one row and two columns.A1:A100 100 cells in column A.A1:D4 16 cells (four rows by four columns).C1:C65536 An entire column of cells

Practice Session: Data Entry
• To enter text or number, choose your active cell and start typing
• Both text and number can be entered in English and Thai
• To delete data, choose a cell or range and then press DEL button
• Try and see it for yourself.
• How to partially edit already entered data without deleting entire cell?

Practice Session: Basic Calculation
• Excel provides basic mathematics operators: +, -, *, /, ^ and ( )
• Mathematical and statistical functions are also available (later)
• To enter numerical operation, type ‘=‘ followed by expression for example: = 1 + 2
= 10 / 3= (-3 + 5) * (2^0.5 / 2)
• Try and see it for yourself.

Practice Session: Cell Interoperation
• Mathematical operations can be applied between cells for example: = A1 + B1
= (C1 + C2 + C3) / 3= (D5 – G7) * 3.5 + H6 ^ 0.33
• Try and see it for yourself.
