The international automotive industry is facing
continuously growing challenges. Shorter
development times, increasing price pressure and
new environmental guidelines are the forces driving
this dynamic market environment. The Miba Sinter
Group, as technology market leader in powder
metallurgy applications, works closely with
customers to meet these challenges.
Thanks to our global presence, years of experience
and ongoing technological progress, we can
guarantee our clients customized and cost-effective
solutions.
Miba sintered components are high-precision, high-
strength parts produced using special process
techno logy. They are used in engines, trans mis -
sions, steering systems, brakes, exhaust sys -
tems and shock absorbers in cars.
Our vision:
No powertrain without Miba techno logy.

Our Team
Miba Group’s corporate values, namely techno -
logical leadership, passion for success,
entrepreneurship and lifelong-learning, are the keys
to our success.
Dedicated, highly-trained staff and high-tech
systems are the pillars of our performance. It is our
team’s wealth of experience that guarantees
operational excellence in the production of sintered
components.
Employees receive extensive training and staff
development opportunities to ensure ongoing
improvements in quality and long-term growth.

Compared with other production processes, sinter
technology allows maximum material utilization
with the lowest possible energy use. By ensuring
that our technology steadily improves, Miba Sinter
Group is able to produce high-end compo nents for
the vehicles of tomorrow.
At the start of the production process, metallic
powder mixes are compressed using highly
complex tools. The compacted part is sintered at
a temperature of up to 1350 °C. To ensure the
greatest possible precision, the component is sized
and, if necessary, undergoes heat treatment, sur -
face coating, mechanical processing, joining or
assembly steps.
Our success lies in our rigorous quality standards
during the production of high-precision sintered
components. A process-oriented, integrated mana-
gement system ensures ongoing improvement of
all processes, both in production and organization.

Engine
Creating successful P/M design solutions for
engine components is all about developing in-depth
understanding of the applications in question. At
Miba, for over 35 years we've been building an
impressive knowledge base in engine drive
technologies, in particular in the following areas:
Gears and gear modules for timing drives and
mass balancer systems for combustion
engines
 Components for variable camshaft phasing
systems
 Functional testing and validation testing,
both in-house and in co-operation with partners
 New technologies with economical production
costs
Improvement in functionality by, for example,
reducing noise of chain drive systems and
minimizing friction loss

Transmission
Transmission manufacturers around the world rely
on Miba Sinter Group’s long lasting experience with
high-quality and high-performance P/M components
for manual, double clutch, and automatic
transmissions as well as for all-wheel-drive transfer
cases.
Miba Sinter Group’s product portfolio for transmis-
sions includes synchronizer hubs, synchronizer
rings, friction rings, dog rings, fully assembled syn-
chronizer modules and various components for all-
wheel-drive applications.
Our technologies for transmission components
feature:
Innovative materials and processes for high-
strength applications
 In-house competence for synchronizer design,
friction materials and validation testing
 Net-shape forming
 Operational excellence due to
dedicated production lines
Functional testing and strength testing of

Body & Chassis
Miba Sinter Group produces a wide variety of body
& chassis components. The product range includes
steering system parts, components for exhaust and
brake systems, shock absorbers and special
industrial components.
By crossing boundaries, we develop future-oriented
technologies, such as helical-toothed belt pulleys
for electrical steering systems.
Body & chassis components are produced at all
Miba Sinter Group sites.

Technological Expertise
The main focus of Miba Sinter Group’s R&D team is
to support our customers with the most cost-
effective and innovative solutions. We offer
engineering support for design of applications as
well as materials and processing development for
challenging P/M technology compo nents.
Using FEM tools for component design and process
simulation, we provide engineered solutions with
maximum performance. Our engineering expertise
enables us to develop complete modules
(e.g. synchronizer modules). To approve the per -
formance of our developed solutions we operate
engine and transmission test equipment for high-
precision on-site functional testing of components and
modules.
As technology leader we are developing new
processes with outstanding characteristics. The
reliability of our surface densification process for
gears - Densgrad® - is proven every day in millions
of vehicles.
Using our Denscal® process we successfully
launched the first series production P/M dog ring
with a density of > 7.4g/cm3.
Our Denscomp® process makes it possible to eco-
nomically produce complex and high-precision high-
strength sintered components and enables us to
achieve densities up to 7.4g/cm3 using single
press/single-sinter technology.
Our strategy is to offer customers optimum solu -
tions by drawing on in-depth know-how in core
processes. Due to our extensive network of deve-
lop ment partners, we are constantly adding to and
complementing that know-how.
