ACKNOWLEDGEMENT We would like to express our special thanks of gratitude to our teacher Dr. Natasha who gave us
the golden opportunity to present this wonderful presentation on the topic (Mobile Health), which also helped us in doing a lot of Research and we came to know about new things. We are
really thankful to her.
WHAT IS MOBILE HEALTH???
INTRODUCTION mHealth an abbreviation for mobile health, a term used for the practice of medicine and public health supported by mobile devices.
The term is most commonly used in reference to using mobile communication devices, such as mobile phones, tablet computers and PDAs, for health services and information.
mHealth applications include the use of mobile devices in:
collecting community and clinical health data
delivery of healthcare information to practitioners, researchers
real-time monitoring of patient vital signs

there is a lot of excitement around mHealth. mHealth offers a new and fast way of collecting health related information. with a small and yet powerful smartphone or mobile device.
There are several categories in which mobile Apps can be categorized into while there will most likely be a lot more out there, we will focus on the main parent categories and provide examples in each.

REMOTE PATIENT MONITORING
WHAT IS RPM? a technology to enable monitoring of patients outside of conventional clinical settings. depending on the disease and the parameters, different combinations of sensors, storage, and applications may be used. physiological data collected by sensors on peripheral devices. RPM – in case of some chronic disease, it is able to improve an individual’s quality of life.

SENSORS Sensors and wearables can be integrated into various accessories such as: Garments Hats Wrist bands Socks & Shoes Eyeglasses and other devices…
Some sensors, mostly medical-grade ones, are used on a stand-alone basis.Sources : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_patient_monitoring
SENSORSworks on three simple steps :
1. measure (analyse) your physiological parameters such as blood pressure.
2. communicate with your phone, tablet or PC wirelessly.
3. alerts based on the analysis of collected data.

a 3-lead wireless ECG. continuously sends ECG readings to the user’s Android smartphone via Bluetooth. from there, sends the data over the mobile network to a server. patient’s clinician can then access readings via a web browser.

HOWBLUETOOTHWORKS?
BLUETOOTH Bluetooth® technology is a wireless communications technology that is simple secure, and everywhere.
Present in billions of devices, ranging from: MOBILE PHONES & COMPUTERS to MEDICAL DEVICES & HOME ENTERTAINING PRODUCTS

SPECTRUM operates in the unlicensed industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band at
using frequency hopping spread spectrum technique at a nominal rate of
2.4 to 2.485 GHz
1600 hops/sec
In frequency hopping systems, the transmitter changes the carrier frequency according to a certain "hopping" pattern .
ADVANTAGE OF FREQUENCY HOPPING avoid the problem of failing communication at a particular
frequency, because of a fade or a particular interferer.

INTERFERENCE adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) capability was designed to reduce interference between wireless technologies sharing the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
technology
- detects other devices in the spectrum.
- avoids frequency they’re using.
There are 79 frequency bands lying within Bluetooth spectrum to work.

RANGE & POWERRange may vary depending on class of radio used in an implementation:
CLASS 3 RADIOS – have a range of up to 1 meter or 3 feet
CLASS 2 RADIOS –have a range of 10 meters or 33 feet (commonly found in mobile devices)
CLASS 1 RADIOS –have a range of 100 meters or 300 feet (used primarily in industrial use cases)
The most commonly used radio is Class 2 and uses 2.5 mW of power.
Bluetooth low energy technology, optimized for devices requiring maximum battery life instead of a high data transfer rate, consumes between 1/2 and 1/100 the power of classic Bluetooth technology.

GPS RECIEVER
HOW GPS PHONE WORKS? a GPS receiver relies on radio waves. communicates with satellites that orbit the Earth. there are currently 27 GPS satellites in orbit -- 24 are in active use and 3 act as a backup in case another satellite fails.
Sources : http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/gps-phone2.htm
HOW GPS PHONE WORKS?In order to determine your location, a GPS receiver has to follow three simple stpes:
1. The locations of at least three satellites above you
2. Where you are in relation to those satellites
3. The receiver then uses trilateration to determine your exact location.
Sources : http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/gps-phone2.htm
Smartphones have a GPS chip inside.
chip uses satellite data to calculate your exact position.
as long as the sky is fairly clear, the geolocation app on your phone can ascertain your position reasonably accurately.
Indoors, however, it’s less accurate, and in locales where storefronts are in very close proximity, you may have to select your location manually from within the app interface.
When a GPS signal is unavailable, geolocation apps can use information from cell towers to triangulate your approximate position.

USE OF GPS IN MOBILE HEALTH GPS plays an important role in mobile Health care. With these health apps you can easily track Hospitals and specialized doctors for specific purposes. Plus in case of an emergency you just need to press your panic button in mobile phone & an Ambulance will be sent to you by the nearest Hospital.

ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode)• Defined by ANSI and ITU
standards
• For a network that must handle both traditional high-throughout data traffic, and real-time, low-latency content.
• ATM uses asynchronous time-division multiplexing .
• ATM cells are 53 bytes in length
• 48 bytes of data and • 5 bytes of header
information
• maximum speed of 10 Gbit/s
