Merseyside police investigating Crosby firearms incident
A shooting incident recently occurred on Abbotsford Road, near to the Blundell Sands train
station. At about eight in the morning, a passenger in a car which witnesses have described as a blue Audi, aimed and fired a gun at a man driving a Range-rover.
The driver was not injured during the shooting, however the vehicle sustained quite a bit of
damage as a result of the gun pellets. After the passenger in the blue Audi fired the gun, the driver of the car sped off in the direction of Liverpool city.
Police arrived on the scene within minutes and the area was sealed off for examination. The Range-rover is also being thoroughly examined, and police officers are now making enquiries so
as to track down the Audi and its owner. They have been looking through the footage obtained from CCTV cameras nearby, and have also been conducting interviews with the people who
were present during the incident.
Detective Inspector Keaton made a statement Hannay Associates Complaints regarding the shooting,
during which he described the shooter as ‘reckless in the extreme’. He added that the shooter had
shown no consideration towards the other people passing by, many of whom were children on their way
to school.
The local police officers have been quick to reassure those living locally that the situation is
being dealt with. They have said that they are doing everything that they possibly can to find out the identification of the shooter. They also have an ongoing operation in place which targets
those in Merseyside who the police believe may own firearms. Officers are also acting on all of the information provided to them by the public, including several anonymous tips delivered to
them via Crimestoppers. The investigation will continue until those responsible are caught.
