PRINCIPAL’S NOTES
Thank You
As the year draws to a close, I would like to say thank you to everyone in
our school community for such a successful year. Firstly, I would like to
thank the parents and community of Mendooran for the privilege that you
bestow upon us when you send your children to us each day. It is a privilege
and an honour to be put in the position with such an important
responsibility, the care and education of your most treasured possessions,
your children. To have the opportunity to nurture them and be part of them
growing and reaching their full potential in all areas is a pleasure each and
every day and we thank you immensely.
My second thank you is to our parents for the support that you give us to
educate your children. As I said today, “schools can move mountains for
children if they have parents working with them” and many of you have
proved that this year. Your positive attitude towards education and the
school and your willingness to be involved in your child’s education does
have a positive impact on your child’s education, so I thank you all again.
Next, I would like to thank our teaching and in-class support staff. You are
wonderful people who care immensely for the children of our school. The
work that has been done by yourselves to further develop the curriculum this
year has been enormous and I commend you earnestly.
To our Office and Library staff, whether you are dealing with a major
school or departmental deadline or issuing a band-aid for an unseen scratch,
your proficient, professional and personal approach to your work makes this
school a much better place. Thank you also for a great year.
To our cleaners and general assistants (groundsmen), thank you for the
beautiful school environment that you create and maintain each day. The
pride that you show in your work is evident every day and we thank you
also.
My final thank you is to our wonderful students. As I said to your parents,
it is a privilege to teach you. This is a school with a unique character and
personality and that comes from you, our students, having a genuine and outgoing outlook and approach
to life. I congratulate you all on your achievements this year and thank you for the contribution that you
have made throughout the year.
I wish you all a happy Christmas and an enjoyable holiday break with your family and friends.

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON (PART THREE) Christmas is all about God saving his people; Jesus (meaning ‘God Saves’) is the reason we have
Christmas because it’s the day we celebrate his birthday. The night Jesus was born in Bethlehem,
God sent an angel to shepherds looking after sheep out in the paddocks. The angel said “I have good
news. This very night in Bethlehem, a saviour is born for you; he is the special person God promised
to send.” They ran to Bethlehem to see this baby and when they saw Jesus they bowed and worship
him. On their way back to the sheep they told everyone about the angel and Jesus.
Sometime later Wise Men from the east who had seen a new star in the sky, and believed that this
was the sign of a new King came to Bethlehem. They found Mary, Joseph and Jesus and bowed
down before him and gave him gifts of perfume, gold and healing balm. This is what happened at the
first Christmas, when Jesus was born.

THANK YOU FROM MR DIBOU Dear Teachers and Students,
I would like to start by thanking everyone for the past 6 months, for I have gained many new
colleagues and have experienced something that I never thought I would. I am truly grateful for all
the support and kind hearted people, who have made this experience one that I will always treasure. I
never thought that I would be teaching both PDHPE and Mathematics in my first year, which was a
challenge at times but nevertheless was a great experience and I have learnt new things about myself
to take with me to future teaching opportunities.
Firstly, a special mention to Mr Spora, Mrs Waters and MsYoung, who have guided and supported
me throughout my time here. Secondly, a huge thank you to Craig Devlin, he has taken me under his
wing and has always been the person that I could confide with. Even just the little things that he does
mean so much more than he knows, especially the times I felt like an outsider looking in.
Finally, to all my students, who have made this experience filled with memories, laughter and
unforgettable moments. I’ve never seen such a group of kids get along so well and show great
mateship and sporting abilities. Special shout out to Amelia, Shaylah and Becci. We haven’t come up
with a band name or performed at sold out concerts, but we have created something special that I
hope you can build on next year.
Thank you all again, it has been a pleasure and I wish you all good luck in your future aspirations.
George Dibou
