Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Fourth Quarter 2017
Dear Friends,
In just a matter of days, 2017 will be history. As we stand at the threshold of 2018, we are grateful for what the Lord
has done during 2017, and we are excited about what the Lord has in store for 2018.
2017… Thank You, Lord
Since officially starting the ministry of Heartbeat International Missions in 2010, the Lord has used you, combined with
the faithful efforts of our National Pastors, to help us see thou-
sands of souls saved. We have also been able to start three Bible
Colleges (two in the Philippines and one in Cambodia), where
young people are training for the ministry. Several graduates
have already started new churches. Two of our Bible Colleges
now have their own buildings. Thank you for helping to make all
of this possible through your prayers and contributions. Badoc, Philippines Cambodia Bataan, Philippines
URGENT NEED: The Lord has richly blessed the ministry of Heartbeat International Missions since we started partnering with a few
National Pastors in Asia seven years ago. We have grown from a handful of National Pastors and two supporting
churches in 2010 to nearly 40 National Pastors we are currently partnering with on a monthly basis. We also min-
ister to about 300 Asian Pastors during each visit. We praise the Lord for 300 U.S. churches and individuals who
partner with these Asian Pastors and provide prayer and financial support on a regular basis. As these ministries
grow, WE ARE FACING A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY AND ALSO AN YOUR URGENT NEED!
Up until now, we have operated everything from our home by faith. We do what we do on a volunteer basis. My
wife and I are both in our seventies and we have been praying for a permanent home for Heartbeat. Harvest Baptist
Church here in Elizabethton, TN, voted about a year ago to donate the building pictured below ( a double-wide
modular building) to our ministry if we could find land and
have it moved. Just recently they offered to sell us the acre
of land where it is currently setting for $12,000. This will
give Heartbeat a permanent location, a place to house 15 or
more National Pastors at once, and also potential office
space if our home can no longer be used because of our
health or age. We are asking the Lord to enable us to pay
this $12,000 by the end of December (just a few weeks from
now.) This is a giant step forward in helping our National
Pastors and their families to have a “home” while they min-
ister here in the United States. PLEASE HELP US. Even if
you would consider a one-time special Christmas Missions
Offering, I believe the Lord will meet the need. If you can
help, please mark your gift “HB PROPERTY.”
BUILDING & LAND PROJECTS… We have had at least fifteen National Pastors in the midst of acquiring land and/or building or
renovating buildings during the course of this year. Over the past few years, the Lord has al-
lowed us to be involved in more than 25 building projects. These build-
ings allow our Asian Pastors to have their own church building and a
place for their families to live, thus allowing them a place to preach the
Gospel till the Lord comes back! If you’d like to help on one of these projects, please contact
us at 423-707-5468.
MISSIONS TRIP… We just returned from this year’s Missions Trip on November 8th. We had a team of seven
who ministered for two weeks in the Philippines, on the main island of Luzon. We had more
than thirty opportunities to share the Gospel through Evangelistic Meetings, Pastors’ Meet-
ings, Ladies’ Meetings, Children's ministries, and Outreach Meetings; we praise the Lord for
111 precious souls being saved, and many believers being challenged and encouraged. In
addition to these blessings, two of our teens from Harvest Baptist Church in Elizabethton,
TN, were challenged in their previous commitments to give their lives to the work of Missions in whatever way the
Lord desires to use them. Please pray for David Jonathan Sadler (17 years old), and Adrianna Garrard (13 years old)
as they continue to pursue God’s will for their lives.
EXTENDED OUTREACH… God’s Word tells us to go “unto the uttermost parts of the world.” Although our ministry has focused primarily on
Asia, the Lord has extended our outreach to new areas of Asia, and beyond.
This year, we have seen twenty to thirty new mission works established throughout the Philippines and Cambodia,
and even more outreaches as a result of feeding ministries. Some of our Cambodian ministries now have outreaches
in Vietnam and Thailand. In the Philippines, we have gone beyond the Island of Luzon, into Mindanao (a predomi-
nately Muslim Island), and recently a new church was started in Malawi, Africa.
BIBLE COLLEGES…
Our two Bible Colleges on the Island of Luzon, in the Philippines, are thriving and grow-
ing. Heartbeat Baptist Bible College, located in Bataan, and led by Pastor Ramil Ofrecio,
is purchasing (over the next few years) their own facility where they continue to train
young people for the Gospel ministry. They will be adding two new students this year
from the churches of Mindanao (mentioned above). Also, Hearbeat Bible Baptist Institute,
located in Ilocos Norte and led by Pastor Benson Olipas, has constructed a complex of
buildings to serve as classrooms, dormitories, offices, and a 400 seat conference center. They are about $25,000
short of completing the project, but the facilities are being used regularly as they continue their work. Our third col-
lege is Heartbeat Baptist Bible Institute, located in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia, and led by Pastor Francis Landingin.
They are still meeting in rented facilities, but look forward to the day they can relocate to their permanent church
property. These colleges started only a few years ago, but several of the graduates are already planting churches in
the Philippines and Cambodia.
ON THE HOME FRONT…
We currently have three National Pastors here in the United States, with three or four more scheduled to come in
March or April. Ramil Ofrecio had orientation with 15 more pastors a couple weeks ago. Please pray for us as we
prepare for this extended outreach to our ministry here in the United States.
Please make all checks payable to HEARTBEAT
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS and designate accordingly
on the memo line of your check. Thank you.
Yours for Souls,
Jim & Bonnie Johnson
