Maywood House
The landscaped rear gardens offer a high degree of privacy.
Maywood House
The Sun Terrace offers elevated views of the gardens and beyond.
Maywood House was sympathetically reconstructed in 2001 to create its’ original Regency styling and architecture. The property was originally built by a wealthy property developer in 1871 and this magnificent country house was later converted into a boarding school for ‘young ladies’. During World War II the British Army requisitioned the house for use by the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). Queen Elizabeth II trained on the original Maywood House estate when she was just 18 years of age.
The regal splendour is unveiled on arrival with the marble floored reception hall, impressive hand carved Adam staircase, leading to a grandiose drawing room, with feature bay window and conservatory, which overlooks the landscaped gardens beyond.
This adjoins the lavishly decorated ‘Adams’ inspired dining room, the impressively appointed ‘Clive Christian’ kitchen/breakfast room and utility and walk-in larder.
The galleried first floor landing has a palatial feel giving access to five generous bedrooms, all with accompanying en-suites. On the second floor, there is a two bedroom apartment, with a fitted kitchen, bathroom and roof terrace.
