Customs 2020: What should companies be prepared for when Exporting?
Recommendations:
• Know your Supply Chain
• Remember that an Export is another country’s Import
• Provide complete and detailed shipment descriptions
•Know your product; who has regulatory jurisdiction over your product and if it requires a license
• Know where and who you are shipping too
•Develop relationships with Government Agencies, i.e. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
•Develop a relationship with Export Promotion Authorities; i.e. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service (Export.gov/dhl)
• Leverage the expertise of your logistics provider
