A chemical reaction is a transforma-tion of some substances into one or more other substances. It can be symbolically depicted through a chemical equation. The number of atoms on the left and the right in the equation for a chemical transforma-tion is most often equal. The nature of chemical reactions a substance may undergo and the energy changes that may accompany it are con-strained by certain basic rules, known as chemical laws
Traditional chemistry starts with the study of elementary particles, atoms, molecules, substances, metals, crys-tals and other aggregates of matter. in solid, liquid, and gas states, whether in isolation or combination. The interactions, reactions and ttransformations that are studied in chemistry are a result of interaction either between different chemical substances or between matter and energy. Such behaviors are studied in a chemistry laboratory using various forms of laboratory glassware.

Lavoisier established the consistent use of the chemical balance, used oxygen to overthrow the phlogiston theory, and developed a new system of chemical nomenclature and made contribution to the modern metric system. Lavoisier also worked to translate the archaic and technical language of chemistry into something that could be easily understood by the largely uneducated masses, leading to an increased public interest in chemistry. All these advances in chemistry led to what is usually called the chemical revolution. The contribu-ttions of Lavoisier led to what is now called modern chemistry, the chemistry that is studied in educational institutions all over the world.

Though physics deals with a wide variety of systems, certain theories are used by all physicists. Each of these theories were experimentally tested numerous times and found correct as an approximation of nature (within a certain domain of valid-ity). For instance, the theory of classical mechanics accurately describes the motion of objects, provided they are much larger than atoms and moving at much less than the speed of light. These theories continue to be areas of active research, and a remarkable aspect of classical mechanics.
In many ways, physics stems from ancient Greek philosophy. From Thales' first at-tempt to characterize matter, to Democritus' deduction that matter ought to reduce to an invariant state, the Ptolemaic astronomy of a crystalline firmament, and Aris-totle's book Physics, various Greek philosophers advanced their own theories of nature. Physics was known as natural philosophy until the late 18th century.In many ways, physics stems from ancient Greek philosophy.
